Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to have Ed aboard and am anxiously awaiting the off-season, but I think he has had very little to do with the palyoff push...

It would not surprise me if he set the tone that Mo has to play more often Thad. Otherwise, he might be indirectly the reason for our recent playoff surge since we changed our culture.

The Ed Stefanski season commences on June 25th. I will give him his ist grade prior to the start of training camp. I just hope we do better in the future with picking up a player from Europe. If Ed picks up Jason Thompson or Kevin Love, you might say the 76ers have started the off season with a bang. For me personally, it would only be the start of something. I would still like to find two additonal players, besides the ist round selection. Let's clean out the garbage. I also have a list of players that I want the 76ers to bring to camp as free agents for the 2008-2009 season.

I do not really care if we lose in the playoffs this season. However, I want Stefanski to blow me away with something juicy in the off season. I know it's 3 months away, but it's getting closer for Stefanski to rock and roll.

I notice how much Darrell Arthur's stock has slipped from the beginning of the season. Unless Arthur leads the Jayhawks to a title, it's possible he could slip even further.

That's eaxctly true. It's been well documented by the media outlets that Ed went to Mo and suggested the team play up-tempo ball and try to get easy buckets in transition. Whether or not Ed had anything to do with the defensive intensity being much higher is questionable, but there is no doubt he was a key component in the style of play on the offensive end.

The one key thing that trading away Korver did (other than getting cap space and a #1 pick) was that it opened up playing time for Thad and Carney (and even Smith to an extent). It was a move made to help speed up their development and it's worked out perfectly so far.

This team was a very good fast break team before Ed got here. In fact, they were more proficient in the fast break (both in terms of fast break points per game, and in terms of our differential with the opponent in regards to fast break points) in November/December than they were in January and March.

This notion that Ed went "Mo, we should run more", and Mo went "ah, you know what, I hadn't thought of that" is a media created feel-good story. This was a running team, in fact it was a very good running team, and was so when Billy King was here. They already played a very uptempo style, and did not begin doing so at the word of Ed Stefanski. It did not take Ed Stefanski to realize the fast break was this team's greatest strengths.

Now, if you want to argue that Ed pushed hard for Thaddeus to get consistent playing time, that may be debatable. Of course, Billy King was also quoted as saying that he thought come 2008, Thaddeus would begin assuming a large role, so it also could very well be timing.

Even if Ed told Cheeks to run more, someone had to get the team to do it. Cheeks is the guy that got the entire team to buy into the system. He deserves all the credit.

I agree, I do not want him on the 76ers. It's amazing how much Jason Thompson has slipped. He may not be a good foul shooter, but the mailman learned how to shoot foul shots for Utah over the course of time. Jason Thompson is a player with a load of talent at almost 6ft 11".The 76ers will do well in the 2008 draft

Thompson at the Sixers current draft slot is a nice value...he scared me when they were talking about him as a lottery pick. Hopefully most of the underclassmen projected to come out in fact do come out, and there will be some value available when the Sixers pick.

NO.mo cheeks turned this team around

It is my opinion that the moment AI was traded to Denver for Andre Miller ... the Sixers were turned around. It is my understanding that Billy King, Larry Brown, and Ed Snider (and maybe Maurice Cheeks) collaborated to close that deal. Then the Webber buyout added to the momentum and things were on the upswing.

I think we should have kept Giricek. He is a very decent player and would have helped us in the (hopefully) playoffs. Personally I think he is better tnan Green and some of our other players.

Giricek has good height and can make 3's something we sorely lack.I can't figure why we were so anxious to buy him out.

billy king having a full season after the allen iverson era turned this team around. shame he had to take the fall and doesnt get any credit for it.

dbods gives solid points to show we were a fast break team before ed showed up. and besides that fact... anyone who thinks he influenced how the team plays should be very worried about having mo cheeks as the coach. if a new gm can come in and tell him now the team should play on the floor, then mo should leave now.

all these theories are hilarious. anyone who thinks kyle korver was holding the team back should check out the jazz. somehow magically, he didnt ruin their team when he went there. we are on a nice run. we are playing hard, and smart basketball. and we are doing it with the team billy king put together.

roland laird, who writes the sixers shots blog on nj.com, recently posted about a season ticket holders' fan forum that he attended at the wachovia center. he states that mo cheeks said in a q & a session - point blank - that he played thaddeus more because the gm told him to.
