Caught this on SLAM Online (via True Hoop)

MT: Well you had a nice game today. I gotta come up with some kind of nickname for you because of your skills around the rim…

TY: (Laughs) Ask him my nickname.

MT: Who?

TY: Willie.

MT: What’s his nickname, bruh?

Willie Green: Who, Thad? Baby Legs

MT: Baby Legs? (Laughing as I say Wow) Well It’s apropos. Especially this time of year with everyone worn out.

Philly sporswriter Tom Moore then asks: “Is that a compliment?”, and we all laugh.

TY: I don’t like it. (smiling shaking his head)

If Kenny Smith comes out with saying this, its going to stick.

Loved the entire interview...Gosh I really hope we don't get rid of Iguodala this summer. He's proven to me this summer, that he is most definitely a 2nd option, (probably one of the top 3 in the league) and if he continues to develop who knows. The bigger question is, how much more would Stefanksi offer? We don't want to dip into our PF fund too much, or maybe Ed won't mind, and will just save it up for 2009.

Either way, Thad and Iggy could be two devastating wing players when its all said and done.

Really looks like the team is bonding as well. I wonder what sort of initiations Thad had to go through as a rookie...

I like the part where he admits to playing absolutely no defense in HS and college. The kid is really well spoken and candid- I would say for a 19 year old kid, but honestly he's well spoken for an NBA player of any age.

Its interesting after watching AI grow up over 10 years from a bit of a young punk to gaining maturity and acting like a man, its refreshing to hear guys like Young and Lou who have the benefit of entering the league already with a good head on their shoulders.

check this one out

this kid's attitude is to good to be true. He has to have some crazy secret like he killed a stripper in vegas and buried her under the mgm.

he may have the game of Odom or Prince but I would say that he has the personality and star quality of Dwayne Wade..beyond his years in maturity...sounds like someone you could easily play a game of one on one with and he would probably let score for a little bit...better analogy for us couch potatoes is he sounds like a guy i would be happy to get a beer with but I realize that he can't get into the bar....lol...actually he probably doesn't even drink.

That was a good read. I like how Young responded to Louis Williams when he was told that he'd be sitting on the bench for long periods of time.

Young is a class act, and will be a star in the NBA.

AI was a model citizen when he entered the league!

I was unsure the language to use in describing AI at 20, and I think the use of the word punk has drawn a knee-jerk reaction that was unintended.

He was not a criminal, he just was selfish (remember the 50 pts game) and grew to respect his team and understand the responsibility that comes with being a star. It is a compliment to him in that he may not have come in to the league well grounded in all areas, but was able to mature in the forge of the the great pressures put upon him. Not everyone responds positively to all of the pressure that comes from being in the media spotlight (look both at young athletes and young Hollywood starts that have gotten more screwed up with time.)

The advantage of entering the league with more maturity is that probably we will have less off the court drama and better chemistry with the young core the Sixers are putting together now. I'm not sure a young AI would have meshed well with other young stars, especially if he had to sacrifice touches and attention. Part of AI's maturation is that he is a better team player today. I think Lou, Thad and Dala have all shown a willingness to take whatever role is needed to fit into the teams needs. That is not always a given for young players who know they can be stars (and have been told how great they are since they hit their growth spurts.) That is why the media and coaches like Thad so much.

I think you just went for the polar opposite of tough...Where is erkel these days? Actually I remember, he was a pretty ripped dude, when he wasn't in his get up...pretty funny to see actually.

This is another reason why Willie Green should not be on this team.

Wait he was even more ripped than he was as his alter ego in Family Matters? I guess I missed him, if he was in Dream girls. Or maybe I did notice him and just forgot.
