Not to be a wise guy, but is there any way Brand loses this?

Possibly to Josh Smith. It'll be interesting to see how Brand plays in the remaining games for the Clippers. If its all still there, I'm going Brand...

No, Elton Brand will win this. That said, I have serious concerns about Brand considering that he will be 30 next season and is coming off of ACL surgery.

it's a ruptured achilles rather than an acl.

Just a note about Brand and the ability to come back from his injury...

There has not been a lot of documented cases of elite athletes suffering the torn achilles, but one of the most high profile players to go through it was Dominique Wilkins.

Wilkins was already 32 years old when he tore his achilles halfway through the 91-92 season. In less that 1 year he was back to start the 92-92 season. That season he was 2nd in the NBA in scoring at 29.9 PPG (3rd highest of his career) and had one of the best all-around seasons of his career.

The reason I brought up Wilkins is because we all know that much of his game was centered around how great of an athlete he was. It's obvious that despite his age he was still able to return as good as new (almost) from this injury. If he can make it back, there is no reason to beleive Brand, a player who never had superior athletic ability to begin with, can't make it back.
