Jason Thompson in my opinion will be the 76ers ist round pick in 2008. He will also be a lottery pick for all women out there. When you got it flaunt it. Thompson has everthing to get the 76ers to the next level, except he needs to improve his foul shooting. Thompson also has a nice touch from the outside. Take a look at this Jason Thompson interview.

Please no Kevin Love. He's an excellent college player but he will not be much of an NBA player. He's Brian Scalabrine all over again...

Kevin Love wouldn't be a long term starter here, but he could be a key piece. His outlet passing is awesome. He also has some range, which never hurts, and he's good with both hands in the paint.
Miller/Williams
Iguodala/Green
Young/Carney
Love/Evans
Dalembert/Jason Smith
That's not a bad lineup for now. If we add a Brand, Okafor, etc. we're solid.
I think Love will go top 10 though....

The reason I like Love is he doesn't need to get by you to beat you, so his unathletic nature is less of a deterrant than most guys'.
That being said, He won't be there at 16-18 IMO. His stock will rise if they continue to do well in the tourney.
I like Thompson. He looks like he could add more bulk, and seems to have a good head on his shoulders

Thompson is a good pick in the late teens/early 20s...not too much will be expected from him. I caught a late game of his, and he does have nice range and athleticism for his size.
Love is a tough one...I don't think he's an NBA star, but he's got nice range and toughness inside. He'll hang aroud the league for a while, but I can't see him being a super player. I'd be disappointed if Ed picked him as the answer at PF.

Whatever he gains from the tourney run will be offset by how he does during the pre-draft camp and private workouts. His measurement (particularly wing span) will be key.
I think if you start Love, you can get 10/8 out of him. I don't think he's going to be a big time scorer in the NBA, but he'll be capable. He'll fight on both ends of the court for boards, with good technique, play hard, and make good passes and smart decisions. The problem is, I see him being abused by NBA offenses. If I were playing against him, I'd pick and roll him all day, get him to switch defensively, and drive, drive, drive. He's going to be a big liability on that end of the court IMO. Not for lack of effort, but for lack of foot speed.

I wonder what losing another 20 pounds of goo will do for Love's foot speed? He already has slimmed down some.

I do agree that Love will need some refining on his game but no way in hell is he the next Scalabrine, he is a bit of a better ball player than that. I think he could be a starter in the league, not so sure about a star but Scalabrine's not even a decent bench player.

Sorry, but I don't believe color of skin has anything to do with your abilities to play ball. You are blind and do you even watch basketball,Love is defintley going to be better then Scalabrine probaly a starter who Scalabrine hopes to crack the rotation, to even make that comparison probaly only because of skin color is totally racist which that statment ultimatley sugggests and very stupid comment..two very different ball players were talking about here.

Kevin Love reminds me of Ike Diogu without the athleticism or the explosiveness. I think he'll be a good roleplayer because of his smarts, but on the other hand, the way he scores and gets to the basket right now in college is probably not going to work very well in the Nba. The way he lays everything up or kisses things off the glass, it looks like a swat waiting to happen. Also, will he be able to establish position in the low post in the NBA like he does right now? Other concerns are him being able to keep up with all the running, speed, and not being able to jump very high.

I'm ALWAYS 20 steps ahead of everyone. When I said that he was Brian Scalabrine all over again I already accounted for Love HAVING to lose weight at the next level to compete during an 82 game season against the greatest athlete's on the planet. Right now Love is like a Big Baby that can shoot from the college 3 point line and pass better, after losing 25 or so pounds he will be Scalabrine's basketball twin. He's a VERY good college player but he does not translate to the next level right now. The one thing that I see that's special about Love is his reaction to the basketball and his hands. He's a magnet for the basketball.
Too many people think that great college players on great teams just translate into quality NBA players. The NBA game is completely different. Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Atwan Jamison, West, Pau Gasol, and even Mikke Moore play that PF position in the NBA. Those guys are far superior either athletically or in height. I would love anyone to give me an example of a Kevin Love type player who is in the NBA, is a starter, and contributed early in their professional career...Big Baby? 2nd rounder and gets his shot ROOFED on a nightly basis...Marcus Phizer? Sweetney?

Brent Barry, Sam Jacobson, and Rex Chapman could jump as high as anyone at their athletic peaks.
