Forget the names out there. I want to know what your prototypical PF for this team would look like. We can then revisit our requirements and see who fits the bill. Here's my go at it;

To sum it up, my perfect PF for this team would be a two inch taller version of Thaddeus Young - a young player with smarts and freakish athleticism and length who has the frame to put on lbs as he matures. Someone who can run with this team, plays stellar defense, and has some post up moves but also decent range.

What I don't really want is a trudger. Someone like Big Baby or Robert Taylor - undersized PF's with girth but slow foot speed. I want a 6'10 gazelle running alongside Iguodala, Thaddeus, Lou, and Sam. A much more polished Serge Ibaka comes to mind. Who else fits this bill and what does your protoypical PF look like?

*Side note: the knock on Donte Green is that he'd rather shoot the perimeter than use his size and strength inside the paint. That being said, isn't it much harder to teach a PF how to shoot 3's than how to play inside? Sheed is the perfect example of a PF who can knock down the 3. When he came into the league, was he known for his outside shooting only or did he come with the complete inside-outside package?

If he has any other good qualities like 3-point shooting ability, passing skills, exceptional athleticism, etc, that's a bonus. But I'd want to satisfy those basics first.

* above-average rebounding ability

* above-average inside-scoring game

* Doesn't necessarily have to block > 2 shots a game, but has to have some smartness on defense: know when to help, etc....

I'm flexible and would consider somebody who didn't meet one of these requirements but was exceptional in other areas, but ideally a PF would have these 3 qualities.

To me, the best potentially available fit would be Elton Brand.

Guys like Odom and Kirilenko and Marion, if available, would also make solid plan Bs in my opinion even if they don't fit the traditional PF mould because of how exceptional they are in multiple areas of the game.

All other things being equal, the faster the better, obviously.

But you can't have a running game if you don't get rebounds and make quick passes regardless of how fast your PF is, so I wouldn't make raw speed my main priority with this position.

Also, if Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and Dirk Nowitzki made a baby together, I bet it would be a pretty good PF too.

It's much easier to learn how to shoot 3's than it is to play with your back to the basket.

A taller Thad = a young Jermaine O'neal.


Garnett, Amare, Dirk, Boozer...for this current Sixers team Amare and Dirk would probably be best suited even over Garnett. Garnett had similar Minnesota teams and lost. Amare and Dirk are go to scorers every minute of every game of the year, Garnett right now is a GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT team player. We need a go to scorer and the PF position is also open so...

My ideal PF would have the body and athleticism of Shawn Kemp with the skills of Dirk. That wouldn't be asking too much, it's possible...

Also, if Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and Dirk Nowitzki made a baby together, I bet it would be a pretty good PF too.

Forget that ill begotten lovechild.

Given the Sixer's current line-up and style give me Amare and we would be set.

Young, athletic, agressive. Would complement Sam, Iguodala and Miller perfectly. Couldn't imagine a better fit- also can't imagine we'll ever acquire him.

Starters: Miller-Dala-Thad-Amare-Sma
Bench: Evans-Smith-Green-Carney-Williams

That team would be contending for as long as Miller has fuel in the tank (and probably for another 5 years after that .)

DeAndre Jordan?

Most important traits:

1. Can score in the low post. Has lots of post moves including back to the basket moves. Can pass if double teamed.

2. Can guard real big strong guys like Shaq and Dwight Howard that Daly can't guard. (actually Howard would be a perfect fit himself or someone like him)

3. Smart and can play team ball (fits in with the sixer culture).

Nice to have:

1. Above average rebounder

2. Runs well

3. Great outlet passer

4. Outside shot

You forget about DC...I'd take DC's skill set with KG's drive. What a waste of talent DC was...it's a shame.
