Hallejuiah!!! I hope that article up top is true about Brand
I know some of you will disagree with my point of view. But I am really not interested in an undersized PF such as Brand. So, if he is not expected to opt out then I say yeah to that. Call not so insightful, call it ignorance but I really was not interested in him coming here, especially with him being injured. That is too much risk and not enough pay off.

Count me as one who disagrees. I know he is coming off an injury, but otherwise he is a perfect fit.
His career numbers are great. He shoots at a high percentage, rebounds well, passes well, is an athletic, long shotblocker (who can even give you minutes at center), is a good character/hard worker guy without ego issues. He's about to turn 29, and it would be great to see him play some of his prime years here in Philly.

All signs might lead to a big smokescreen....if Brand were really in his right mind, he'd know full well that it would be a ***** for the Clips to be a force in the Wild West. It would be better for him if he moved to a team in the East (crossing my fingers for us) and actually had a decent chance to contend & go to the Finals more easily than in the West.
But then again, it's not the end of the world if we can't/don't acquire Brand....

Even if you don't want him (and being "undersized" is about the worst reason, IMO, considering the level of work he's already put in to establish himself in the NBA), you would want him to declare to bring another player chased by others with cap room.

Undersized? He's not a draft pick, he's a 28 year old with the 22nd highest PER in NBA history. His size clearly fits him just fine.

I think Brand is just playing his numbers. There will be a lot of teams with cap space in 2009/10 vs. 2008/09, he will have more places to choose from...i.e. the Blazers for example. If they continue to draft well, and keep their core players, they will be nasty. Brand will just be the cherry on top of the icing on top of the cake.
By that time, I don't know if I'd want him when he's 30. I'm a big proponent of when you rebuild, you want to keep your star players together for as long as possible. I'd like to have a guy like Josh Smith who is on the rise, and can grow on the team. And hey, if he doesn't work out well with Thad and Iggy, he'll still be in his 20s, and he'll be a valuable trade chip later on.
Also with Josh Smith, Thad, Dr. Swat, and Iggy, if we still have Willie Green on our team, maybe all 4 of them can intercept his jumpshots before they hit the cylinder, and dunk them.

6'8" 254lbs with a 7'5" wingspan is undersized now?
