I remember driving to NY to see the 76ers lose 2 heartbreakers in Madison Square Garden 20 years ago in round 1. Then we lose the 3rd game because Charles and Gerald Henderson could not make free throws. I forgot to mention that Mark Jackson threw up a prayer in game 2 at the buzzer, but it swished for a tray and a victory for NY. Cheeks could not get the ball in the frontcourt in less than 10 seconds, . On the next play Jackson hit the shot to win game 2. What a horrible loss.I went home to check the replay, which showed Cheeks did get the ball across in less than 10 seconds.

That 1988-1989 team won 46 games, but as we are accustomed to seeing, the 76ers had size problems that year.

The real loser in that series was Hersey Hawkins, who could not hit a shot all series. I think it was in game one he scored 2 points. Those 2 points were a breakaway layup. I think if we would have won that series. we probably would have faced Detriot.

I love miracles, so I hope God has a miracle in store for the 76ers.
