A.I.???? Why A.I.????

So I was at the Game last night and I got really frustrated with people calling Iguodala "A.I."...It even happens on this board a bit, and I'm not a big fan of it...Personally I think it's a bit disrespectful to Iverson's legacy, as the real/original A.I...he gave so much to this franchise, and why should an unproven player deserve to take his nickname?

Would you ever call another player M.J.? Cause there is only one player I will ever think of with that nickname...I use that example because it's also a nickname using initials, and Iverson was on basketball Icon level almost par with Jordan during his time here in Philly.

Now I know Iguodala doesn't like the nickname "Iggy", but I don't think he deserves "A.I."...any thoughts?...I also don't like "A.I.2"

Maybe "Dala"...then he could get a "$" tattoo

No, but you don't use everyone's initials as their nickname...I think most people have adopted it so easily because we just spent the last 10 years using that nickname because of Iverson's initials, and the coincidence of our next "best player" having the same initials must have transitioned too easily.

I just think that Iverson deserves to keep "A.I." all to himself

Yes that is VERY true. Allen Iverson EARNED his nickname of AI. Who else on planet earth has EVER been called AI? Artificial intelligence? Iggy is TRULY only called AI because it roles easily off of the tongue so easily after having referred to Allen Iverson as such for so many years. The OP is very astute. Andre Iguodala just slid in on a banana peel into that AI moniker, undeservingly so.

his intials are a.i. and his last name is a mouthful for some announcers. i don't really care even though i try to use tk76's AIG when i remember just to keep both players seperate.

What??? He earned AI?? You take the first letter of his first name, last letter of his last name, and it's a nickname. No magic involved. They both have the same initials, thus some people will use the same nickname.

Why the big issue over AI?? I thought Iverson was 'The Answer'?? I guess in reality, he never earned that one...

Uh, Freshie: He played with the following: Keith Freaking Van Horn, Corliss Williamson and Softie Chris Webber. Even Carmelo Anthony isn't the leader of that Nuggets team. You want a gunner, look at Melo.

It may not be wise wasting valuable time out of your finite existence exchanging basketball conversation/debate with a person who has REPEATEDLY called Andre Iguodala a superior clutch player than Allen Iverson. You will NOT catch me responding to anything coming from such a person. :wavefinger:

No ones rushing to his defense, The thign is it's just intitials, He ndidn't oick that nickname the FANS just call him that bceause it's easier than Typing his last name. let it go, this is just **** sad that this topic went further tahn one page.
