Bring in 'Sheed!

Rasheed Wallace should retire a Sixer. It would be a perfect union. North Philly boy finishes his career at home... A veteran big man with his best legs behind him, the Sixers' young, hungry, athletic team could become very attractive to Rasheed. Further, Mo Cheeks is probably the only coach 'Sheed would want to play for. And Mo might be the only coach who could handle him.

Rasheed is entering the final year of his contract next year at $13 mil. It's looking like it might be time for Joe Dumars to change the mix in big D. Detroit is grooming Amir Johnson as its future center, and it doesn't seem likely that DET will match any offer in order to re-sign Rasheed next summer. Why let him walk for free?

Detroit is under the cap, so the Sixers would have to match salaries... That's a challenge, and it would probably require Sammy. Perhaps that's not the best move for a young, up+coming team... Is there any way the Sixers could trade their salary cap space to a team like DET who's already under the cap? If not, perhaps the Sixers could sign 'Sheed next summer as an unrestricted FA. Coming home to a rising contender might be the ideal move for a 34-year old Rasheed next summer.

Whether this summer or next.... Eddie ought to bring back the pride of Simon Gratz.

Dude, I love Sheed, but we're playing his team in the playoffs right now!! Can't this wait until the offseason?

1) I agree with 9th wonder
2) I don't know what you're talking about matching salary. If we have 10 mil in cap space, we don't have to match sheed's full salary
3) Depending on the outcome of the series, sheed could be available, and I do agree he's a great fit for Thad/Iguodala. But this is pointless at this point.

I love Sheed but
a) he's nuts

b) he doesn't really shine as a clear cut 1st option, like he would be here. He's always the most talented player on the floor but he's much better as a number 2/ not the guy taking over in the clutch.

i agree w/ dbods and 9th wonder on everything else.

Sweet. I wasn't exactly sure. That's great news. So conceivably, we could send Willie Green and the 16th pick to DET for Sheed.

I know the timing is a bit odd, but I can't help but dream about those PF names on Eddie's big white board. I imagine Sheed is definitely up there. Also, watching DET meltdown in game 3 made me wonder about the future of their franchise, so this is actually pretty current.

I understand if you guys just want to enjoy the ride right now... Totally cool. I am right there with you... Been playing the 1,2,3,4,5, Sixers song on repeat for the last 3 days. I'm getting drunk off this season's amazing run.

It's just a thought. And with the way this series has transpired, I could see a scenario where Sheed would want to come here.

I think the only way Sheed would be moved would be if Detroit get bounced in the first round.

Dumars has said that "Rasheed is everything that a Detroit Pistons player should be" in that he works hard, is passionate about winning and is a selfless teammate.

On many nights, like in games 1 and 2, Sheed is our best player.

If we were indeed to lose to Philly, which is entirely possible at this point, I think it opens the door for major changes to possibly be made in Detroit, and it certainly wouldn't be out of the question for Sheed to be moved.

That said, if Philly beats up I would be open to trading both Sheed and Rip (Rip's from Coatsville, PA) to back home to Philly.

I'd do the pair to Philly for AI(Sign and trade) and #16...

C:Dale
PF:Sheed
SF:Young
SG:RIP
PG:Dre

we don't need that **** inconsistency!

plus we are a rarity in the NBA. a solid team without egos (don't consider Iggy an ego). so why add one of the most explosive egos in history?

The offers in here are pretty bad. Sheed's probably going to be a Piston for the rest of his career. And if we're looking into moving him, doubt its to Philly for a bad contract like Dalembert. A 13 million dollar expiring deal is a huge trading chip, we'd be targetting somebody better than Dalembert.

Sheed can still play though, he's still an all-star caliber player, and he'll age better than most big guys because he never relies on his explosiveness or athleticism, rather his sheer size and length.

The Pistons and Sixers just aren't good trading partners at this point.

Yea he littlary stole an all-star spot this season,he didn't even want any part of it, he even admited that.

12 points,7 rebound isn't all-star numbers clear Big Z got his spot stolen this year who is a true center..not some power forward wanna be center.

He would be a good fit in and coming from Philly it would be cool and a Willie Green,16th pick is not a bad offer for him maybe a lil more would make detroit do the deal or a unlikley 1st round elimanation but then again if Detroit lost to us why would they help us out.
