Before he was traded to the Nuggets, my impression was that Hunter was solid--maybe one of the better backup centers in the league.

Karl played him about 3 minutes this year, and now I'm wondering what gives. Am I misremembering thinking he was decent with Philly? I certainly didn't expect him to be a starter, but I would have expected around 15 solid minutes per night from him.

Just trying to figure out what Denver might expect next year with a slightly less insane coach.

He was decent and started for us the 2nd half of last season. Not a good rebounder for his size but he should have been playing for Denver. He could have taken some pressure off of Camby. Look at what Reggie Evans has done for us and Karl had him buried on the bench. Karl doesn't put any value on defense.

While your sense of drama is cute, let's not forget that the Sixers had a winning record last season in the 30 some odd games that Hunter started for the Sixers in 06-07. While I wouldn't go as far as to say that Hunter is a solid NBA player, I also wouldn't say he stinks. He's a role player and that's all.

No Hunter is below the level of a "decent player" because to be decent you have to have some consistency like Brian Skinner. Steven Hunter plays bad most of the time but will string together some games out of his frustration of consistently getting yanked for his bad play. He would undoubtedly get yanked for bad play more often than not if he had played...

Yes. Hunter is decent and should be getting alot more time in Denver, especially when nene was out. His rebounding is poor, but the rest of his game is good enough for minutes

steven hunter was REDUNDANT with dalembert on board.

Hunter didn't play much for Denver because he was hurt nearly the entire year. He had knee surgery early in the seaosn and missed a couple months. Then he tried to come back a few times and the knee kept bothering him. He was never back to full health and the Nuggets only used him when they had to.

Hunter was crap.

Worst rebounding big man I've ever seen.

Regularly shied away from contact on defense.

Won't ever have a significant role in this league on a good team.

Didn't he screw up his knee?

Just going slightly off-topic, but was his bad knee the reason he didn't get traded to the Hornets last year?

For his contract, he's decent. He'll block a shot here and there and can finish around the rim. The one thing I liked about Hunter was that he always went up strong without hesitating when he got the ball around the rim. Other than that, he was pretty unproductive. His lack of toughness stands out.

I was waiting for Sendem to call Hunter the 7 foot version of Dala lol.
