Worst Fans in the Playoffs are in Philadelphia!

Man I was so pissed when I watched game 4 and saw that there was no real support by the fans who were at the game. Game 3 wasn't sold out too but at least there was some kind of energy when we made big plays. But even game 3 wasn't a comparison to the Hawks games so far in round one. And they play the Celtics and lost big time in Game 1 and 2. We even won Game 1, and then Game 3 and in Game four there is no energy at all.
The only thing the fans did was booing the Pistons players. I heard defense chants about one time the whole game.
I mean we had a great season, a unexpectet win in Game 1 and in Game 3 there are still over 3000 empty seats in the Wachovia Center.
To make matters worse, we won game 3 and in game 4 there are even more empty seats, and the fans were so boring that I couldn't believe my eyes. Even when we were playing amazing basketball in the first half, the fans almost never stood up and celebrated. I'm really upset with the Fans so far.
What's the problem in Philadelphia? Are the tickets that much more expensive than in Atlanta? I just don't know. Man I would love to go to the games but it's a bit difficult over here in Germany

I was at the game. The place was packed, the place was loud. You trying to make a determination like that through TV is flawed.

I didn't really like how all the fans were leaving with about 5 minutes left and the Sixers only down 11 points.

I was there for Game 3 and it was a lot of fun. But definitely not playoff atmosphere. There was some cheering but it wasnt 2.5 hours of intensity: only when there was an exceptional play. But like I said it was a lot of fun, kinda like a regular season game used to be. It will just take time for the fans to come back.

76ers fans are looking for the go to guy. We are not used to having just role players. Big cities want big time players.

Philly fans are the most passionate bitches, we just become frustrated with 2 decades plus of losing...coming from germany what do ya know about that?
Yea, well that is true but as sixer fan as long as were winning why do we need another Allen Iverson.
This 76ers team is refreshing, everybody gets involved in the offense and its beutiful to watch then watching one man try to carry a team night in and night out.
We just need a post presence and we can be title contenders. Thaddeus Young is looking good in the postseason, and could be even better then opposing Detroit Small Forward Tayshaun Prince when he made his mark in the postseason as well.
As long as we win I don't care if we have a big star i apperciate team work. I been wanting to go to a 76ers playoff game but all my stupid buddies wanna always go watch boring hockey.Although flyers are doing awesome but still unless they win the stanley cup I really couldn't care less, hockey is just way too low scoring they should make the goals soccer size have like 30/40 point games would be the **** then.

If we can win game 5 tonight and game 6 in Philadelphia, you're gonna eat your words.
And kind of off topic, but if Elton Brand opts out of his contract, is he an unrestricted FA, or restricted FA? And also, how did he look in the last couple games of the year?

The fans in Philly are a disgrace in my opinion. All the majority cares about is the Eagles. I was switching between WIP and Detroits sports talk statiosn for a few hours before the last game and the only thing WIP talked about was the eagles. I mean they didn't even mention the sixers. The Detroit talked about the Pistons the whole time and were only taking callers for the pistons game.
Thats a disgrace. Philly has two good young teams in the playoffs right now and another good baseball team, and all they can talk about is the Eagles draft? The eagles are done. I hate to burst the citys bubble, but the team might finish in last place.
Pathetic. For years the media spoke about getting rid of Iverson so we can "play the right way" and when we do that, and win nobody cares. The hawks fans make us looks bad.... That's embarrassing.
my 2 cents

I have moved to US in 2004 and living in Philadelphia since 2004. and I have become a huge Philly sports fan (Eagles, 76s, Phillies)
I have been to at least 50 games in Philly and I have been to 100s of sports events worldwide and here is my conclusion.
I think Philly fans should take some of the blame why Philadelphia teams are where they are. I was at the 4th game against pistons. I bought the ticket the moment 76s made it to the playoffs. I recently moved out of Philly to North Jersey but that did not matter, I am a true fan, this team overacheived so far, so driving 100 miles should not be a problem (with my 1 year old son). In the past I have travelled more than 1000 miles for my soccer team back in Turkey so it is no problem for me.
When we reached to the Wachovia center , I have seen lots of people looking for tickets so I thought it was a sold out game but unfortunately it was not. There were 3000 empty seats in Wachovia center that day and I dont know what else the team could have done better to attract more fans.
(the tickets were only 20-30$)
I have seen Chris Webber boooed during his second game, I have seen people leaving their seats just before Allen Iversons first ever buzzer beater, I have seen people leaving during overtime (pacers game 3 seasons ago). I can understand the frustration of not winning for 20 something years but I believe the fans can help their teams do better.
I support my team unconditionally, they may win or loose. I support them all the way. If they loose I criticize them but I never boo them.
I am pretty sure we will kick some piston butt tonight and unfortunately the reason may be there will not be too many Philly fans in Auburn Hills
Philly fan for life

You appear to be confusing WIP with Philadelphia fans. The sports radio stations hire people who can only seem to talk about football (and therefore usually take 90% football questions), but their failure doesn't mean fans of other sports don't exist. It just means we don't have an outlet where you can hear us.

Yeah, plus comparing us with the Piston's coverage isn't fair. The Pistons have won a Championship and have gone to 5 straight ECF of course their local media coverage is going to be significantly more than ours.

The only real thing I can't understand is why the games weren't sold out. I can't understand that.
DeOgar said the fans aren't there because of 2+ decades of losing basketball. What should the hawks fans say? These fans had definitely worse times than we to cheer for their team, yet they manage to sold out their arena and the fans are going crazy everytime a hawk touches the ball.
You also said that I can't understand it because I'm from Germany. I don't think that my opinion would change if I would life in Philadelphia. We do have some sports over here too...
@ dbodner
I think you can definitely see a difference on TV if you watch another game of the playoffs (Lakers, Hawks, Celtics...). And why not? There was way more energy at the hawks game and I don't understand why the sixers fans in the arena didn't go as crazy as the hawks fans. But the biggest problem I have is that both games weren't nearly sold out. In both games there were over 3000 seats not filled and that's what I don't understand after a season and playoff series like that.
and deOgar said that the current basketball we're playing is way more attractive than the way we played with Iverson and I think a lot of fans feel the same way.
I just don't understand why there is so less interest in these sixers. Philadelphia is one of the bigger markets in Basketball and yet the Hawks and every other team but the sixers can sold out their arena. That's something I don't understand coming from Germany where even the worst soccer teams in the league have at least an announced crowd of over 30.000 every game. (13th place out of 18 even over 70.000)

Dude you don't understand philly fans cause the simple fact is you don't know any real philly sports fan. It would be just as wrong to base german fans based on a broadcast, and from playoff games I have seen it seemed like a great atmosphere...and I have been to the games too.
Some of the european countries have violent riots at some of the football games..that hasn't happend at our local philadelphia games even with all the horrendous losing.
BTW its not just basketball its all our major sports for all my life, haven't wittnessed a championship in my own city in my own life thats just some **** up **** man.

Even if there is a great atmosphere, I still don't understand why there is no single sold out crowd in the wachovia Center in the Playoffs. Philadelphia is the only team that doesn't sold out their games I guess. That's just ridiculous after such a great season and I simply don't understand why there is so less support for this team even after they beat Detroit in Game 1 and in Game 3.
Now I have to read something like that again:
"The fans don't seem to be too excited about things, especially since as of late Wednesday, only 12,500 tickets were sold for the game."
Wow amazing there will be not more than 15.000 in GAME 6!!! in the wachovia center. That's a joke and I don't have to life in Philly to say that.

I was a season ticket holder from 96-20003 or so, and have attended a lot of games outside of that.
I was at game 3, and it was the loudest I ever heard a non-sellout. The issue was, folks were leaving with the game wrapped up with 5 minutes to go! You don't leave a win early! If they would have done that in the past, they would have been gooed and berated as they left. There were definitely a lot of johnny come latelies in the crowd.
I agree it was a good atmosphere for an important regular season game...NOT the playoffs.
Can't speak for game 4, but I hope tonght is better than 3. Even if they don't win, these guys deserve a standing O from a packed house
