LeRoy, Fairless Hills: How much money has Andre Iguodola cost himself these playoffs? He is no longer considered a second banana type player. He is more along of the lines of a third amigo

Bill Simmons: He hasn't helped the cause - but Philly would kill its fans by letting him go for an extra 10 million. You're looking at Andre for five years, $70 million, making him overpaid by 20% and giving him something in common with half the league.

I could see 6 years $75 million as the very very most.

2: $11 mil
3: $12 mil
4: $13 mil
5: $14 mil
6: $15 mil

Woh, 75 million for Iguodala? He's a good player, but he's not a real star, the best player by default. Tayshaun Prince has pretty much owned him this series, and he only got 5/50 or so.

Prince got a 5 year $47million extension. But he got that as the 5th guy on the team basically. Detroit had 4 all-stars and Prince wasn't one of them.

The max I'd offer Iguodala is $60 million over 5 years, take it or leave it.

Anything over $12 million per year just isn't worth it.

Honestly, $50 mil/5 years seems about right. I'm sure he'll get at least $55 mil/5 years.

in the not too distant future Thad should be the first or second option on this team, depending on if we get that elusive post presence we've all be clamoring for.

in an ideal situation (we get a PF) Iggy would be the third option.. does anyone think we should drop 70 mill on a third option?

i'm not exactly an NBA salary cap guru.. but that wuold probably make it hard to build a team with that much $$ wrapped up in a third option

being stuck in cap hell and getting knocked out of the first round year after year will "kill the fans" more than letting Iggy walk, imo

of course if we can keep Iggy around for that much and still have enough money for everything else that this team needs, then this post is a waste of time and I hope they do keep him around for whatever it costs

I just don't see Andre accepting anything less than what he was offered this past fall strictly because of ego.

$55 million over five year seems perfect, $11 million per year, but I just don't see him accepting anything less than what the sixers offered him earlier in the year.

I think that - before the playoffs - he may have had a legitimate beef that he should get more than he was offered last summer. However, given the playoff series that he just had, I think that position just went "bah-bye"...

If Sammy could get a better deal because he played well against the Pistons in the playoffs, then Iggy should get dinged a bit because of how small he came up in the playoffs....although I understand that it doesn't always work that way.

Unless he somehow salvages his shortcomings in this series, by playing big the next few games(or game), the Sixers should not pay him any more than their initial offer.

We should pay him LESS. Not to be a Sendem here, but he's not a finisher in traffic and when he misses jumpers he turns the ball over. It has to be a 45 mill contract or sign and trade him to a team interested.

72 mil/ 6 years would be my max offer.

I think that's a little harsh. Iguodala - at the age of 24 - put together a pretty solid year...career highs in just about every catagory. After a shaky start, he did not let his contract situation affect his game like it affected other players. Does he still have things that he needs to work on? Of course he does. But there is nothing in the man's temprement or work ethic to suggest that he won't watch a LOT of film of how he got schooled by Prince this series...in an effort to get better.

And - from a financial perspective - the Sixers basically hold all of the cards here. If we offer him the same deal we offered him last season, I think that only the Grizz can offer him more (and they won't with Gay and Miller on the roster). There may be a couple of S&T options out there to pursue, but I believe that this team is better with Iguodala on it....at the right price.

My only concern is whether Iguodala can develop a good enough handle to be a SG in the NBA. If he can, I am on board. If not, then the only way he can stay is if Thad can be our PF.

I personally say give the man his pay day. He's worked his ass off for it, and he has the talent. There are times in sports you just gotta make decisions with your gut and ignore the finances.

I'm with you on the sign and trade, bro...but conventional NBA wisdom is that you do not trade big for small...and given our needs in terms of getting additional bigs, I am having a hard time visualizing the big that we would get back for Iggy. Would LB do a S&T with us for Okafor? I dunno....

I am open to a S&T...just having a hard time seeing another NBA GM - after this series - giving us a quality big for Iguodala unless they have a LOT of them (Portland?)...

Portland has Webster and Outlaw at the 3.

Obviously Iggy is better than both, but I don't think they'd give up a ton to upgrade.

Perhaps Outlaw + Frye +#13 + LaFrentz's expiring deal

Toronto really needs a wing, but they don't have much to offer.

It seems like SF is just the easiest position to fill in the NBA.
The only teams in the East with bad SF's are New York, Toronto, and Milwaukee.

I'm sure the Bucks would be willing to move Redd's no defense playing big contract for him.

Hopefully the Bucks move Yi or Bogut. =)
