First--Get a SG to replace Willie Green (if you really want to play Thad at the 4 permanently).

Second- Put Thad at the 3 if option 1 fails. Put Iggy at the 2.

Third-- Get a PF.

Fourth-- Get a backup C.

Fifth-- Get a backup TALL, Defensive, TRUE PG, letting L-Will slide to the backup SG.

Sixth-- Find a roster consisting of the following:

C-Daly/ Backup
PF-Starter/Evans/Smith
SF-Thad/Carney
SG-Iggy/L-Will/Green
PG- Miller/Backup

I would **** twice and die if this happened, because we would rock.

O yeah, and re-sign Iggy and L-Will to small deals for 4 years each. That should be their window. If they can't lead a team with that kind of talent around em to a title in 4 years, they aren't going to do it any time after that.

I would like to see the sixers go 100% with thad at PF. Try to mold him into a baby shawn marion. Draft Chase to have a large 2 guard who can spread the floor for the slashers. Keep Igg at the right price at 3. Dream situation.

miller/lout
chase/green
iguodala/carney
thad/jason/evans
dalembert/booth

I don't want Josh Smith. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there is something missing from his game. It may be maturity or basketball IQ. I see him take a lot of forced shots, he makes some lazy passes, and just doesn't seem to get into the flow of the game sometimes. Plus he lacks that bang down low type post game. I think his game more suits a 3, not a 4. He relies way too much on his leaping ability.

I still want to take a chance on Brand if he were to be available. He has the down-low post presence we need. Can hit the fade, rebounds way better than his size, can hit a little baby hook.

Would I cry and scream if we got Josh Smith? No, but I don't think he is what we need.

That's a likely scenario. If the Sixers can bring in a banger like Bass with their cap space to rotate with Thad/Evans at the PF spot, we may have something special.

We do need someone big to back up Dalembert though.

Brand should be our main target, although I'm not sure what we'd have to give up in order to obtain him.

I agree with you about Josh. He fills the stat sheet, but it doesnt always translate to wins. He is a great shot blocker and dunker, but that's about it. No real low post scoring. The paint would be crowded all the time with him dalembert, and igg trying to look for shots within the paint. I like what thad does enough to the point where I want to see him utilized like marion was for phoenix.
I'm not really for Brand because I don't trust his knee. Not saying he will be so messed up by it that he will have a Cweb type final seasons, but we got to stay away from something like that. If he can't bang down low, we might get stuck with another form of cwebb. A PF who just shoots 15 to 20 foot jumpers.

watching him play the last few games of this season i would definately chase him. awesome PF he will be in the elite group of PFs or close to it for a few more years, and he never relied on uncanny athleticism before he ruptured his achil... i mean knee. brand fits what this team needs so much more than smith does, sooo much more! please opt out, please! also philly might even be an attractive team to elton after our nice little run in a conference that isnt stacked with powerhouse teams.

also, thad needs to be our legit 3, iggy our 2. Thad has the potential to matchup with the elite SFs of the league and even create havoc on the offensive end in a few years, developing his handle and outside j IMO are critical to this teams success in the future. for me, ideally, going into next year our starters would be

Miller
Iggy
Thad
Brand
Dalem

lou will, carney, green (hopefully traded), evans, hill, and a rookie big sounds decent to me.

I'm not going to write my entire offseason prescription right now, but I do have 3 comments.

1) I think Willie Green is a good person and a decent backup, but for the good of the team Ed has to trade him. Mo uses him as a crutch. We might have won this series had Willie been benched and Iggy had a more favorable matchup with Rip from the getgo.

2) I think Josh Smith is a good enough SF, but a lousy PF. Unless the team is reconfigured in a big way, Josh Smith isn't a good fit. (We'd probably not be able to sign him anyway because Atlanta would almost certainly match, right?)

I think he should get a decent amount of time at PF, but I love the idea of making him the starting SF. We'd have the most physically dominant SF in the nba on our team. What Tayshaun did to Iggy throughout the series, Thad should be able to do every night at SF.

That title goes to Lebron.

Has Wilcox been discussed? He may be worth a look, if he can be obtained.

Chris Wilcox, a 6'9 hybrid forward who fits our run n gun system but does not have much of a post game. I'll take it, it's very cheap and it'll help us win games.b

With today's Realgm front page article discussing the possibility of the Mavs trading Josh Howard, I think Stefanski should check out a situation where we do a sign and trade for Josh Howard with Iguodala. Howard makes around the same money if not less than what Iguodala is expecting to get.

Howard would bring a significant improvement on the offensive end and he is no slouch on the defensive end either. He has improved his game year by year, and I don't see him bringing any troubles to the organization even with his admitted use of marijuana.

How about we swing this trade and pick up a nice PF. That'll be an off season to be proud of.

Throughts?

As per Jasners article today the Sixers have a bit more than 11M cap space.

11M with the max yearly allowed raises would allow for a 5year 67M contract (13.5M/yr.) The max for players with <8 years experience is 5/80M (16M/yr.) An older vet like brand could make more. If they threw in a 2M contract in a sign and trade they could max out a young player in a sign and trade deal.

Wonder if that is enough to land a big name player?

I'm surprised this hasnt been discussed more because I was thinking the same thing too. Howard is a more complete player than Igg and just fits this teams needs more. I dont know if all the trade talk is smoke and mirrors.

At this point in his career, I think Brand would take less money to join a promising up and coming team, who doesn't play in the western conference. If I was Ed, I'd be doing everything I can to bring in Brand. He's the exact type of player this team needs.

I've asked before, but I was ignored:

Is Elton Brand a RFA or UFA if he opts out, and how did he play in the last couple of games?
