Does Cheeks deserve another year after next season? I think Ed should let this season play out first before he gives Cheeks another year.

I definitely think Maurice Cheeks deserves an additional extension and maybe not for just an additional year. He has done a great job with this team and has cooperated with everything Ed Stefanski asked of him. The only criticisms of Cheeks have come from the "expert criticizers" on this forum. Fortunately, their opinions do not count.

Those arent expert criticizers. Any coach in the league would have made the switches we all asked Mo to make.Sometimes you are like the Antisendem. You back your players and team no matter what. Kind of like a women in a abusive relationship that no matter how often she gets beat she says she loves him and he will change.

Cheeks should not be extended. He's not a playoffs coach. He can win in the regular season, but when the playoffs come he's unable to adjust on the fly, and create plays that maximize our players' potential.

I wouldn't mind if he stayed as an assistant coach, or player mentor. Stefanski will be making a huge mistake if he keeps Cheeks as the head coach for the future.

Fans/Posters can criticize all they want. In the end, it is the front office that makes decisions.

That is not true. I back coaches if I believe they are getting the most out of what they have to work with. That is all you can ask of them. I believe Maurice Cheeks is doing very well with what he has to work with and it appears Ed Stefanski agrees with me ... not you. Now, I look upon that as confirmation that I am probably right about him. And, you look upon that as Ed Stefanski making his first mistake. And you need to look at it that way or you would have to acknowledge that you might be wrong about Maurce Cheeks ... which you are absolutely unable to swallow.

Jim O'Brien was a great coach. I have a feeling that the only reason he was fired and Mo was hired was cuz Mo was part of the "Fo, Fo, Fo" Philly team that won the chip in 1983. Jim was a defensive coah and I think our defense needs improvement.

O'Brien was good for getting the most out of his shooters. I'm not sure that he would fit into our current plan of run/gun & high energy defense.

Maybe I'm wrong.

I'd prefer to wait and see how it goes next year before extending further. Cheeks had a great year, lets see if he can take us to another level next year.

You could do that and it might work out just fine. Apparently, Ed Stefanski feels that Maurice Cheeks did such a good job that he feels he deserves more than that. He observes game situations with the knowledge of what the Sixers are trying to accomplish on the court and player capabilities that affect Mo's decisions. You finally got it right. It's also only Ed's opinion. Just because it may be his OPINION that Mo is a good coach, doesn't mean Mo in fact is a good coach.

Too bad what Ed sees Mo do/say in practice or in his office isn't translating onto the court. Not only did the team finish below .500, but in fact, it appears that Mo lost his team with about 5-10 games left. When fans from other teams come onto your board and say it seems like your players are just going through the motions in a PLAYOFF GAME, it usually doesn't point to very good signs.

I do believe your Willie Greens only fan outside of his family lol.

Actually, I've grown on Willie Green. He's effective in certain matches, and is a good bench SG.

I don't like the fact that he starts. He's a below average starter, and I would like to see Iguodala permanently moved to shooting guard, or if that doesn't work, moved to another team.

No it doesn't. But his opinion carries a little more weight (at least with me) than anyone on this forum.

I think it is probably inevitable that Willie Green will be a bench player if the Sixers are going to have the success we all hope for. In order for Willie to remain a starter, he will have to increase his shooting percentage to near 50%. Can he do that ... I doubt it ... but more power to him if he does.
