Marc Narducci wrote a decent column for the Inquirer about the Sixers' future. He throws out a couple of names of players the Sixers could acquire (Josh Smith, Villanueva, Mike Miller) so I guess it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I did like the way Villanueva finished the season in Milwaukee and when you ffactor in cost and Skiles' coaching.... he could be a fairly cheap acquisition. On the other hand, I'm not a big fan of Mike Miller even though we need a shooter.

How about Drew Gooden?

I'm not a big Gooden fan but he's a solid option if you factor in his contract. Gooden has an expiring deal so he would be a good backup to the backup option.

I don't mind Villaneuva, but doesn't he have attitude issues?

I got a funny feeling about Odom.

One year left, so even if AI and LW get resigned, the Sixers would still be in good cap shape Summer 2009.

i don't think villaneuva has attitude issues. i know he has defense issues.

Hey wait a minute.... I recognize that ass. I do believe the cheeks in "sixersftw" belongs to none other than those of Keyra Augustina and yes... they are spectacular.

Back to the topic, Odom will be an expiring contract and so the only reason the Lakers move him is for a stud player in return and not cap space.

Iguodala, Lou Williams, and Jason Smith need to be turned into a real NBA player(s) by management ASAP. There are free agents on the market that can replace those three very flawed players who have over hyped "potential" while their ceilings in my eyes are very apparent due to fundamental and genetic flaws like short arms, flat jump shots, and lack of finishing ability around the basket.

We can potentially sell very high on those three players right now. Keeping them and not acquiring a real NBA talent will hinder the Sixers future.

Thad needs to start and receive the same sort of development opportunity that Iguodala has received since he was a rookie. This needs to begin NOW. Move Iggy out of the SF position and off of this team. He sucked as a SG and he sucked in the playoffs. He must go.

I'm a BIG supporter for Charlie coming here. He makes a lot of sense. Supplies offense. Inside and outside shooting.

He doesn't have character issues, not in the traditional sense (see Pacman Jones). However, as a Raptor, he tends to coast and be lazy from time to time. He did respond well to Mitchell's constant butt kicking.

I think he could be had for this year's Sixer 1st round pick.

TGP: I was hesitant to respond because you boooooed me on my annual tradition bound birthday thread, and my feelings got hurt, because I thought we had something special ... haha!! Just kidding, anyway, please, just admit it, you're dying for Shawn "The Matrix" Marion right ??

I'm not, he's Not a PF unless we want to go the Phoenix Route. Outrebounded and lack of defense. He's a SF. He sucks in the half-court. No.

You are damn, filthy grudgeholder! :-)

As for the Matrix... I fell out of love two years ago and so I have next to no interest in him at this point. Then again, I can easily warm up to the idea of him playing here next year.

Send em is at it again :-) Dude, Lou Williams was clutch for us in alot of games this season. He's a defensive nightmare to stay with. Goes to the hole and finishes very well. I put him right up there with GS Monta Ellis. And I suspect he will be the main attraction by other teams this off-season.

Players who will go are Ollie-Shav and Amundson, no doubt there.

Players that NEED to go are Wille Green. Can't have 2 smaller SG's. And Lou is by far the better player. Not that Green is bad, but not for us. And probably Carney needs to be put out there, and see if we can get a back-up PG in return. However, after reading the exit Interview for Carney, i feel the team might want him back for a 3rd year, and see if he makes a dramatic Improvement.

Lou Williams is flawed. The flat release on his jump shot is just something that can't be overlooked. It is the foundation of the reason why he shoots so many short shots off of the front of the rim and airballs. He travels with the ball and makes bad decisions with it far too often. That flat release on his jump shot is also accompanied by a horrible delayed release on the way down whenever he's well defended (ala Micheal Jordan/Larry Hughes). This shot rarely goes in for him and is not a shot that a NBA player under 6'4" player should have. Lou should be utilizing a one handed floater like Chris Paul and Bobby Jackson or a high arching fading jump shot like Allen Iverson.

Lou Williams had his moments on this bad team like many NBA players in the past and present have done, but his brand of basketball is not winning basketball and his type of player is easily obtainable. Nate Robinson and Ronnie Price come to mind...

He travels with the ball, really? Can you give us stats that prove this? And your comparing Nate Robinson to Lou because of a flat jumper? These things can be worked with. Sendem, you lost credibility IMO here.

Send em, if Lou is so flat on his jump shots, then why did he shoot over 36 % from 3 Pt range, and your boy Monta Ellis shot just over what ?, 23 %. And Ellis, unlike Lou has multiple and multiple of good Vet players who are threats to open up a clear, easy look for Ellis. As where Lou does not. And speaking of other so-called Great players. What about Baron Davis. Is HE a better shooter than Lou Williams ?

Baron is not even a true PG. But yet has a career FG % of 41 %, less than 33 from 3 Pt range. Averages less FT attempts than Lou does when considering the + 17 minutes more a game that Baron gets than Lou. And Baron, in all his years is still a 69 % FT shooter. So, with all those other weapons to open things up for Baron and Monta. A fast paced shooting run & gun squad. Why is it that both of them shoot way worse than Lou does. And yet, Lou has such a " Flat Shot " ?

Or maybe it's because send em,,,you have more of a " Flat Head " :-)

Genius... just pure genius! :-)

Hey Johnny... are you on the Love Train??? I doubt he slides to #16 but if he's there, I'd be fine with the pick as long as Arthur is off of the board.

I'm sorry you lost me with all of the talk of statistics. I chat basketball.
 I FAIL to see how STAR extended minute starting guards compare statistically to a bench guard who plays limited minutes against backup players and didn't start a single game all season. :noway:
I'm under the impression that 100 Lou Williams can get you Baron Davis and Monta Ellis in a package deal...Of course you could have better information than I do. :)
