Thought:

If Chicago takes Rose (I think about 99% chance) Miami is left with Beasley. But Miami could use some point guard play, because they already have Marion-Haslem in the front court.

So I was thinking, maybe their can be something worked out between Philly and Miami.

There aren't many better pg's in the business than Andre Miller and Miami's team isn't that young anymore to look so far in the future.

Let's say: Andre Miller + Jason Smith for Beasley + Jason Williams (because we're under the cap, salaries don't have to match, isn't it?)

Marion
Haslem
Blount
(very good team, contender material in the east)

Philly:

I would think that Miami would want our 16th pick as well. I like your trade. I'm not sure Miami would. But you do have a point about the logjam at PF. Who knows what will happen.

i think it would need to start with a S&T with Iggy and giving them Dalembert.

since iggy can't sign beofre the draft, this idea is out.

LOL Pat Riley wants nothing to do with Andre Miller. The thing about Pat is that he has won championships already so he is focused upon doing what it takes to build championship caliber teams. He knows that Miller isn't a championship caliber PG being that he has a complete inability to make 3 point baskets. Nothing that we could ever offer would get Miami's #1 pick. We could offer Iggy, Thad, #16, Andre Miller, Dalembert, Jason Smith, Utah's #1, and our 2009 #1 and Miami still wouldn't give us the pick.

plenty of teams have won championships with a PG that doesn't hit alot of three pointers. Tony Parker comes to mind first. Mo Cheeks won a championship without being a great shooter.

What makes a player "championship caliber" is clearly the team around him.

Andre Miller is capable of winning a champioship if he has the right team around him.

He is still not worth Beasley by a long shot.

Uh, Jason Williams is currenly a Free Agent so that can't be done. Also, there is no way Miami trade the 2nd overall pick for a possible 1 yr rental of Miller. Jason Smith doesn't add much from a value persepective

If Rose turns out to be Gary Payton caliber and Beasley turns out to be Elgin Baylor caliber Pat Riley would look like a fool after that trade, ESPECIALLY if those other #1 draft picks acquired turn into more Jason Smith's....

You guys are overhyping Beasley. He hasn't even played one NBA game yet. If the nets are potentially able to get Carmelo with Richard Jefferson and filler, we surely could land him with a similar package. Why would we sell the farm for an unproven Beasley when Carmelo could be had for much less?

Tony Parker is a far better 3 point shooter than Andre Miller it's not even close. At 20 years of age Parker made 80 3 point shots that season. It's Pop's philosophy to have Parker penetrate to the basket a million times a game 30+ minutes a night for the entire season including deep into the playoffs. Additionally Parker is the best finisher in the paint that I have seen in my entire life without the added benefit of being able to dunk. When Andre Miller can replicate that style of offense then he would be replicating what Parker, and Pop have proven can win championships. But until then he is not a championship caliber PG with his style of game. He's just a playoff PG.
Mo Cheeks played in a era that didn't have zone defenses and at the end of Cheeks career he was the All Time leader in steals.

I'm sure that Pat Riley knows all of this already...

I absolutely hate that logic. By that reasoning, you would never have traded Corey Maggette (proven 17 ppg scorer) for LeBron James (some high school kid who never played an NBA game). GM's are paid to predict the future (or at least a probability of the future). We, as fans, can make "trades" (fake ones, at least) based on the same predictions.

Riley should minimal interest in Andre Miller when we were losing and he could have had him for an expiring and a mid-late first round pick. There's no way he's trading the #2 pick for Andre Miller, and no way Miller's worth it.

"There aren't many better pg's in the business than Andre Miller" is just wrong. Paul, Nash, Deron Williams, Billups, Parker, Davis are no-brainers. Miller is probably in the 8-10 range. Above average, good, not top of the league.

If we were trading partners with Miami, Iggy would have to be a part of that deal, and if Beasley were around, I would like that deal a lot.

We then have our front court of the future in Sammy, Beasley, and Thad and could use our caproom on a two guard.

I was thinking the exact same thing. They'd also probably give us the contracts of Davis, Blount, and Banks in return, and take our #16 pick also.

Miami would be tough to beat with this lineup
