Does anybody know anything about Pat Calathes? All I know is the he is a local boy from St. Joe's. But from what I have read he is a 6'10" sf/pf player very high Baskball IQ , good handle in the open floor and able to bring the ball up court to, good passer and a god outside shooter. He seems to be getting good revies from draft express in the Orlando pre-draft camp. What else does anybody know? could he be a good second round pick if we can buy a pick?...Thoughts

You seem to hit everything right on...I have seen the guy play and practice many times... He in my mind would make a great 2nd round pick b.c he is the low low risk high reward kind of a guy he reminds me a lot of Vladimir Radmanovic from the Lakers with a bit more ball skills...and if that

He's the type of guy who has a chance (not will, but a chance) to develop into a slightly taller and slightly more athletic version of Korver while not being as deadly a shooter.

Calathes grew up as a point guard and then suddenly shot up to power forward height. He has very unique skills with his ball handling and shooting at his size. However, he's going to get scorched by 3's and bludgeoned by 4's in the league today. His best hope is to hit the weight room and bulk up to hold his own against some 4's.

He's a "matchup problem" type of player that I think a lot of teams could use if he develops. Including the Sixers. It never hurts when you have a big man who can handle and shoot it. In the right sets, he could even play a little point forward with two shooting guards coming off screens.

Think a poor man's mike dunleavy...

Interesting tidbit... He was recruited as a PG to St. Joe's but kept growing and growing... His major growth spurt was senior year in high school...

Brother Nick was a top freshman at Florida this past season...

Calathes has little NBA potential. He's an average shooter at best (career 41 FG%, 33.2 3P%) compared to Korver's college stats (47 FG%, 45.3 3P%). Calathes can't create his own shot, has no post game, and can't play a lick of defense. He has Euroleague written all over him.

If any local A-10 player has a chance to get drafted (which isn't likely), it'll be Mark Tyndale, not Calathes.

I saw him play in HS with him and his bro, he was underrated when he got to St. Joe's (right after jameer left) and his underrated now, he's a 6'10 player who can shoot and handle the ball like a pg, he used to play that position before he had a growth spurt.

Most mock drafts have him early to mid 2nd round, if he gets in the right system, I think he'll be very nice role player in the league.

I think his bro will be a better prospect than him, but pat's skills are so unique for his size and what he can do.
