I read that your two biggest needs are a low post scorer and perimeter shooting. I understand that some of your posters don't like McCants as well, but I'm curious how you'd feel about this:

PHI GIVES: Reggie Evans + Calvin Booth (exp) + 2008 #16 (let's say, the rights to some prospect big)
PHI GETS: McCants + Craig Smith (S&T)

The Sixers get their low post scorer and their outside shooting. Both players should be more valuable to them than the #16, and the trade maintains their cap space. Moving Evans means they can add the shorter Craig Smith without duplication, and removing Calvin Booth helps them develop Jason Smith. McCants is high risk, high return, but if he doesn't work out, PHI can simply not make him a qualifying offer next summer, so he's at worst, an expiring. Depending on the contracts, this may save DEN money removing Evans longterm deal.

MIN GIVES: McCants + Craig Smith (S&T)
MIN GETS: Reggie Evans + Calvin Booth (exp) + 2008 #16

This adds a great deal of salary to the Wolves, but in exchange for the #16 pick. For MIN, Smith could be considered a TPE, and McCants could be an expiring if they don't make a qualifying offer (so he's low risk, high return). Wolves fans love Smith, but he simply is trapped behind 21 PPG Al Jefferson. The Wolves lose out on the chance to finally see what McCants can do when he's healthy, but if Mayo is as good as advertised, losing out on his 15+ PPG this season might not sting.

It's a fair trade but the sixers are looking for a starting pf and Smith isn't the longterm solution. The sixers are better off using their pick to try and draft someone like Speights.

This coming from a 76ers fan: In my opinion, the only player the T Wolves would want form my 76ers would be Iguodala. If you want Iggy, I want the 3rd pick,McCants and Craig Smith for Iggy. I think it's the only deal that interests me. I'll keep my 16th pick for Speights, then trade Miller, only if I can rip off a team,lol . With the 3rd pick I would take Bayless.

The first time you said that it was a "rumor from a philly media source"
which probably was the reason that it wasn't locked. I'm insulted that you are bringing this REDUNDANT HOMER GARBAGE to this forum again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again...

This deal is not rich enough for the #16 pick. At least by taking Evans, you don't leave the Sixers with two short PFs but it doesn't address Philly's need for a starting PF or back-up center. In fact, by adding Smith to this deal, you tie up additional cap space that could be used for a FA PF. Since Smith would replace Evans this trade is basically McCants for #16. McCants would probably fit pretty well but I don't think they'll trade the chance to get a big from the draft for a rotation SG nor will they tie up additional cap space by taking Smith (a resigned Smith & McCants will cost more than Evans). If Philly doesn't gor or a FA add the second rounders &the value will be closer.

First, I apologize for missing the Fantasy Trade Thread on the top of your board. I visit a lot of forums, and some have a thread like this and others don't. I should have checked before posting, so perhaps this thread could be locked. By the way sendem .. that was a lot of "agains!"

Second, thanks to the posters who commented on the trade. Briefly, I'm not sure I really tied up additional cap space here, or at least that I specificly tried to create a deal to preserve your cap space. Its hard to tell, before questions like, "What do we do with McCants next year?" are answered. I would imagine Craig Smith's contract wouldn't be any bigger or longer than Reggie Evans.

Third, I could protest, "But Craig Smith started a lot of games for the wolves his rookie year!" but I get what you mean. He's a better fit as that first big you bring off the bench to get some inside scoring. I'm curious though if you can get an scoring starting PF and address your perimeter needs with the #16 + Evans + Booth?

Finally, is1531 - there wasn't much interest in Iguodala at the wolves forum. I thought a smaller deal might fit needs better at a smaller price. I also agree with all your pick of Speights. I love what I've read about the kid, and the numbers he's demonstrated. Good call.

Value-wise i think the trade is decent (if you add at least a second round pick from minny) but phila pass

I am one of the few Sixers fans who will say "Get her done". Craig Smith is worth a similar contract to Reggie Evans. Anytime you get a scoring banger to come off your bench that's as young as Smith is, you do it.

On the flipside Rashad McCants is a high ranked stud from UNC and if healthy we can see what he's made off. High Reward/Low Risk.

At the worst case, this becomes Smith for Evans/16. This is where it becomes an "Eeeh" type of trade. Because why give Minnesota a similar player and a first round pick? But Evans is a fat salary and doesn't deserve it. And I don't mind giving up the pick to get rid of Evans.

By Virtue of Evans's contract, I would agree to the deal.

Why bother. Its just moving pieces around that won't make either team noticeably better. The Sixers gain salary, another shooting guard when we have one too many already, a power forward that isn't the longterm answer, and we lose our draft pick.

The T-Wolves get a well-paid bench player in Reggie, a cadaver to sit on the bench, and a mid-pack draft pick that may end up out of the league in 3 years.

Meh.
