There's no guarantee Stefanski takes a PF with the #16 pick. He'll draft BPA. There are players at other positions who may be his target at that spot such as Budinger, Batum, Greene, etc.
We can still acquire a PF through free agency and via trade, so the draft is not our only option.

It is interesting how you've already conclusively divined Stefanksi's Plan A.

Speights has NEVER shown that he is a better player or prospect than a bunch of other 6'9-7'0 draft hopefuls. He's pure hype right now since the college season ended. He's also not playing in the draft tournaments as to not expose himself as the hype that he is. If a team ahead of us drafts Speights then I guess we pick one of the other PF/C's that averaged like 15ppg and 8 rebounds...

As it was just mentioned, it is definitely not for certain that a big man will be taken. Pretty much any position other than PG could be had. Or who knows, maybe it will be a PG. Or we could even end up trading the pick. We really don't know what is going to happen...

Sendem, listen for a second, I saw the guy play 12 times this year. Don't you think after 12 games, with most of the games that I saw from the conference, your going to formulate an opinion.
What are your talking about never shown that he is better than other 6ft9 to 7ft hopefuls? Are you connecting his play to big men this season or other seasons? How many times did you watch him play live? His plays in a very competitive conference.
Your last line is so silly, you should go back and read it. "I guess we pick one of the other PF/C's that averaged like 15pg and 8 rebounds". I guess you do not watch much college basketball, rather you tend to read the draft information, then treat it like the New Testament. If Speights is gone, you have to be sure you pick a player that has a future in the NBA, not a player with stats. By the way ,Willie Green averaged 12.4 points per game, wow. You need to start watching some college basketball before you make silly statements. Right now College Basketball is not your thing

Marreese Speights:
Weaknesses -Neither incredibly fast nor explosive, Struggles to create offense for himself

No they read material from scouts who sometimes write draft material . Come on man. Fine so are these things said about the man False . That's all you have to respond with ? It's interesting to note that half of the material we get and use to talk about other players are obtained from 2nd hand sources and yet here you are denegrating them. Perhaps because you see things about him Differently . Tell me , why should the sixers draft him ?
( Based on your expertise in drafting of course )

I sure hope Ed has a better plan for addressing the teams gaping hole at PF than pinning their hopes on a #16 pick.
I would be happy to see Arthur or Speights picked, and hope they might develop, but the Sixers need a more sure-fire plan to get a good PF- hopefully through a trade or FA.

I'm not against Speights. I just recognize a hype machine when I see one. Speights and Westbook seem to be the beneficiaries of MAJOR boosts in their stock AFTER the college season was over and people looked at their measurables and said "hey, this is a potential 6'4" PG prospect and a potential 6'11" PF/C prospect." It looks worse when Speights is ONLY looked upon as a mid first round pick BUT he still is too scared to play in the tournaments? There is NOTHING stopping Speights from potentially being drafted #4 overall if he had a very good showing in the draft camps. But now he could fall to the end of the first round. Does this put us in a better position to draft him? Yes. BUT by everyone's account who has a voice Speights has done NOTHING at the college level to show that he is a prospect worth the amount of press he has been receiving. You would think that he's a top 5 pick or something. He's a mid round pick that COULD have played himself to the top of the lottery but it's obvious that he has no skills, he's ALL potential.
It's difficult to get excited about a big that has NO SKILLS and/or isn't a freak of an athlete. You would think that he'd be a shotblocker...

This is a building team. I don't think that they need anything more than a sure fire NBA caliber player out of this draft. We could get the BEST power forward in the league next season and we still wouldn't win a CHIP. Bosh, Amare, and Garnett wouldn't help this team do much. So I HOPE that Ed isn't feeling pressured into OVERPAYING to somehow acquire a player at PF that is better than Reggie and Thad but who doesn't figure to be a top notch PF in this league. If he brings in a player like Wilcox, Curry, Z-Bo, etc then I know that he has no true plans to build a championship franchise. You only need a Horace Grant/AC Green/Rodman/Haslem/Ben Wallace level PF to win a championship and those players can be acquired anywhere in the draft IF YOU KNOW HOW TO EVALUATE TALENT.

Well it makes me feel good that the information that I provide in my posts empowers you enough to feel as though you have ascended to the level of a genius. But no matter how much you learn about basketball from me I doubt that the people in your life will see you as anything other than the same damn idiot you were before you read my information filled post. Sorry, but you're still the same IDIOT.

I think Speights might be a nice pick at 16, but he's no sure thing. Talent, yes, but numerous sources raise the possibility that he is a 10 cent head. I only saw him play a few times and he looked impressive in short bursts. Reminds me a little of Sharone Wright, both good and bad. I highly doubt the Sixers have a "plan A" yet for the draft and I am even more sure there "plan A" for acquiring a starting PF isn't drafting one at 16. At 16 it's BPA, and if it's a big Speights and Arthur are guys you pick hoping they develop down the road into a starter.

Funny.
Of course, we've banned all of 4 people in the last 4 years, and there isn't one of them who didn't deserve it. So if you're going to make that accusation, you should at least do some research on it.
