At app. the 25-27 min. mark of this podcast they mention that the 6ers are looking to move into the top 6, with Memphis and NY being potential partners.

The columnists mentions taking on a contract, such as Brian Cardinal or a NYK contract in a deal for the top pick.

Cardinal has app. $6.25 due each of the next 2 years. Perhaps Darko comes back? Kyle Lowry as part of the deal for the future PG?

Cap space, the 16 and Utah's #1 for Lowry, the #5 and a contract? If Mayo was certain to be there that would be great.

Maybe a 3 way with NY where Cardinal goes to NY and Randolph comes to Philly?

This podcast raises some interesting possibilites, we need Sixerfan1976 to get us up to date.

The Sixers cap space will create a lot of potential deals that have nothing behind them. While I think you have to be interested in moving up to the top 5-6 range if there is talent available, is that the best way to spend this year's cap space? I don't know that this is a draft where you can't get a player @ 16 with equal 2-3 year potential to the players in the 5-6 range. The solid picks are Rose, Beasley, Mayo, and Lopez (Lopez isn't Ewing or Kareem, but he'll be a solid NBA center). Bayless and Randolph are talented with some considerable question marks. Both are very interesting prospects, and if Randolph can bulk up and improve his shooting, and Bayless turn into more of a PG than SG, then maybe the picks pay off...but is the 2-3 year upside of one of the many players being mentioned @ 16, without spending the cap space on an unproven commodity, not a better deal? If Mayo is there, or Randolph/Bayless pan out big time, then you've made a good move...otherwise, that lost cap space, along with whatever other picks/assets you give up in the deal, sets the franchise back another 5-6 years.

Who are the big 5??

I would be satisfied if we swung a deal with Memphis that got us the #5 for cap space, even if it meant taking on Cardinal's contract. We could probably give them Utah's pick and either Carney or Smith instead of the #16 pick.

We draft BPA with the #5, and only on potential with the #16.

I'd love me some Eric Gordon.

Why does everyone like Love so much? He would be terrible on this team! I would never consider trading up for him. Is he a perfect fit because he can throw a good outlet pass? Gimme a break people.

Well... it looks like another draft night of us being on pins and needles awaiting the "big splash".

^^^^^^^Hopefully something happens this time. I'm glad nothing happened though. I <3 Thad. But last years draft showed a lot more promise than this years.

We'll see if it actually happens in the end... Odds are definitely stacked against the "big splash," and this'll probably end up being a let-down, like usual. I plan on attending the draft this year, so hopefully there'll be some crazy Sixers action. But the fans consensus pick, Speights, is lottery-bound, IMO.

I think that's going to be very hard to happen, unless one of Bayless/Mayo/Gordon/Gallinari fall. We can probably get some talent at 16. There should be someone unexpected to fall.

If we can trade up and nab either Gordon or Love id be happy...
im a fan of Kevin Love,i dont care what people say, hes only a freshman and his bball IQ and skills are just too good.hell be a solid player imo. and Gordon could be that go to scorer we lack also.

I'd be interested in an actual explanation of why he'd be bad for the Sixers.

To me it seems like a smart PF with inside & solid mid-range scoring ability, rebounding skills, and yes the ability to throw a quick outlet pass could potentially be a great fit on this team.


PS: Regarding his physical attributes, which is supposed to be the one knock on him....
