I vote no but I can see the appeal...

...it would not be an all or bust experiment like Webber was. Zach would only be on the books for 3 years- and in the 3rd he would be a huge expiring if we wanted to deal him.

This team is so young that they could go with Miller and Zach the next 2 years, and then retool the third year when Zach, Sam (and maybe Miller) are expiring. In three years the young core of AIG, Young, Lou, Carney, Smith and Hill will still be only 22-27, and we would potentially have nearly 30M between Sam and Zach coming off the cap to upgrade our bigs and build around our young guys.

I like it. You can draft a project PF at #6 to learn the game while Zach is here in the meantime, then you have a big expiring chip in Miller next summer, and Sammy and Zach down the road. The Sixers would have cap flexibility and get better in the halfcourt without sacrificing their youth.

The only downside I see is chemistry. Reggie works his tail off and its contagious. I'm not worried about Zach's defense with Sammy back there and the perimeter being played by Andre and Thad.

I'd go for it with the #6 pick included. If Zach doesn't work out, we can still get a quality PF at that spot to fill in and develop.

Yeah I would do it without hesitation. ZBO, I feel, is a good fit on the sixers. We should discount last year for him, bc he was in a can't win situation, and think about how high his trade value was the year before. Plus we get the 6 which is huge.

I'd also do this without hesitation. Zach is not the athlete we'd want but he is an offensive threat that can command a double team when he's on. moreover, cheeks has coached him so the front office should know everything about how he'll blend with the team.

There's no way that committing to losing is a good plan. Acquiring Z-Bo is making a commitment to losing. Bad character, selfish player with no versatility.Pass...

This would give us a guarantee of Beasley, Rose, Lopez, Gordon, Bayless, Mayo or Love. Just for that I'd do the trade. Depending on who we get would determine our situation with Iguodala/Miller in the next 2 FA's, and give us quite a bit of cap room if we don't resign either of them as well.

Dbodner: Beasley, Rose, Mayo are the top 3 picks. Lopez/Gordan are definites at the 6 though. Kevin Love will be available at our pick.

I'd be a lot happier if we could do this deal by trading Willie Green instead of Reggie Evans. That way, if the Zachsperiment is a huge bust, we can anchor him to the bench and only retreat back to the lineup we had last year at PF, rather than have to find an immediate replacement. It also helps us with the chemistry issue.

While I'm pretty sure Mayo is a top 3 pick, I wouldnt be so sure that he'd go 3. It's been reported that he has refused to work out for team 3-5. In the end, he'll get picked by Minnesota tho.

Only if we can land another first round pick or keep our 16th pick.

no way do i do this.

i don't know enough about the players in this draft to really say that we'd get something great at 6 like we might in another year. beyond that, zach randolph is a waste of money. the guy doesn't know what it means to play hard. he has no defense. i just don't like him as a player. especially on the sixers.

reggie evans may not be great, but the guy plays with more heart than the opposing team's starters combined. it rubs off on his teammates. the last thing the sixers need is some slow ass no defense guy walking around out there loafing it.

DBodner: I think Minnesota takes him and deals Rashad++ to get a quality center. Or they can draft Brook Lopez. They have alot of versatility. We know Bayless is a Sonic unless a major offer comes that they can't refuse.

At number 6 I think we would be picking from Lopez, Randolph, Gordon, Love, Westbrook and/or Mayo. Beasley, Rose and Bayless are pretty much locks to be gone by 6. A couple of the guys I listed will fill out the top 5, leaving us with 3-4 good prospects to choose from. If you have a PF in Zach you can pick the BPA at 6.

Eric Gordan's my guy at #6. Pure Athlete, hell of a scorer. Hope he doesn't turn out to be the next Ben.

If this deal is on the table, I would absolutely do this if I ran the Sixers. Randolph, excluding last season, is a pretty decent player: can shoot, post up and rebound. The 6th pick would bring this team a decent player too. Moving Evans would be tough since he's such an absolute warrior and character guy on this team but, if this deal was suggested even a year ago (Evans and filler for Randolph), the Sixers will probably jump at it in a split second.

Memphis, who I heard has had MULTIPLE people refuse workouts from them (including Mayo I'm sure). The only team we probably have to worry about taking him is Minnesota.

That being said, I do this deal in a second. I started warming up to the idea of Randolph only because he has been a 20/10 guy in this league before and is relatively young. Also, the situations he was in in both New York and Portland (at least at the time) weren't exactly good ones, it doesn't excuse he laziness, but maybe a team with direction would get him to play harder. Regardless, I think it's worth the risk for the 6th overall pick. Not to mention I'm sure Cheeks would interject if he believed Randolph would be a problem.

I would have to believe we take one of Love, Lopez, Mayo, or Gordon at the 6th pick. I would be happy with any of those players (maybe except for Love, but apparently his weight situation is getting better). I think this trade could possibly shoot us to the top of the East if the experiment is successful.
