Could we get Carmelo?

It seems as if the Nuggets are shopping Carmelo if you believe the rumors. Ive heard NewJersey and Detroit as possible trade partners. But why couldnt the Sixers be players also? Ive also included the New York trade because it would still be possible to pull off should we choose to still do it:
Sixers get:
Carmelo Anthony
Zach Randolph
New Yorks # 6 pick
Nuggets get:
Andre Miller
Thaddeus Young
'09 First round pick: Utah's
'09 First round pick: Philly's/Lottery protected.
New York gets:
Willie Green
Reggie Evans
Calvin Booth
Philly's number 16 pick
Why for Sixers:
Anthony would be that true scorer we really need and would allow Iguodala to move to his natural position as a number 2 option. It would also allow us to still pursue the NewYork/Zach Randolph trade and the number 6 pick if we still want to. The only problem is it would leave us a hole at the PG spot and im not sure we would have enough money left to sign a significant free agent. Or we could use the #6 pick on a guard like Bayless or Gordon if we feel they can play the point in the future. It would also leave our bench bare.
Possible Roster:
Bayless
Iguodala
Anthony
Randolph
Dalembert
Bench players: Williams, J.Smith, Carney
Why for Denver:
Denver obviously needs a point guard. Miller would immediately help them in that area and allow them to still possibly draft Ty Lawson and have him come off the bench and learn under Miller during his rookie year. Miller's and Iverson's expiring contracts also would give them cap flexibility next year or they could pair up their expirings with bad contracts like Nene's and Martins to use in trades. It also gives them Thaddeus Young who has tremedous upside and is much cheaper than Anthony. He also is probably already a better/more willing defender and could one day be all-around better than Carmelo. They also get two first round picks next year to help them build for the future.
Possible roster:
Miller
Iverson
Young
Martin
Camby
Bench:
Lawson
J.R.Smith
Kleiza
Nene
Hunter
Why for New York:
No more Z-Bo. Cap flexibility. Could still get a future impact player at #16.

C'mon man.... you've been around here for a long enough time to know fantasy trade stuff.
I won't address your proposed three-way deal but I will say that I have some interest in Carmelo for the right price but I wouldn't break the bank for him. He's shown himself to me an overweight player with a ton of skill who plays no defense. What makes you think that will change any time soon??

I think 'overweight' is a little extreme. He may not be cut like Lebron but he is very strong and very in shape. You dont get 25, 7, and 3 if your overweight. I think the reason he doesnt play defense is because the whole Nuggets team doesnt play defense and George Karl doesnt make it a priority. But Stefanski, Cheeks, and the coaching staff make it a priority and Carmelo would dominate in the East. Do you think my trade would be breaking the bank for him, because I dont think its a high risk trade for us at all.

Any team with Melo and Zach would give up 110 points per game. Daly would foul out by halftime with all the guys blowing past Melo and Zach all night.

I was thinking the same thing. If we were to bring in Carmelo, our starting SG and PF would both have to be good defenders.

yeah the only reason i would consider the randolph trade is because the rest of the players seem to be hard workers, put good effort in on defense and are strong character guys. melo and randolph dont work for me

Im sorry but i just would not trade Thaddeus for Carmelo personally i think Thaddeus will be the better baller in a couple of years, and the fact that Carmelo plays no defense what so ever and hes only worried about scoring, id much rather have a Younger Thaddeus who husltes plays defense and goes after boards. Im just praying to GOD we dont package Thaddeus for Carmelo.

I like Carmelo and i'm all for getting him is the price is decent but no way on Earth he can play on the same team with Zach Randolph.

we sign brand
we trade iggy+ #16 +utah's pick for carmelo
we trade miller+jason smith for billups
billups
melo
thad
brand
sammy

I don't want Melo. His effort is non-existent. We already got rid of Chris Webber.

We could always do the Melo trade and not the Zach one. Or the other way around. But say that you wouldnt want a young 25, 7, and 3 player for an aging point and a rookie doesnt make alot of sense. And comparing him to Chris Webber is stupid

As discussed in a previous thread, if we're bringing in Carmelo, Thaddeus Young is as good as gone.
There's only room for one starting small forward, and Melo is obviously better.

I wouldn't doubt him. Carmelo has proven to be a solid #1 option in the past. He and Iverson do not complement each other well. That's why the Nuggets won't get anywhere in the West.
On the Sixers he would have Iguodala naturally become a #2 option, Andre Miller as a pure PG, Dalembert as a young defensive Center, and Melo would be the focal point of our offense(bringing out his true game).
If we have a chance to get him, we get him.

Carmelo is washed up because he JUST shoots jump shots like Iggy. He now plays basketball like he has tired legs. He doesn't drive to the hole nearly enough unlike in the past. Carmelo is STILL the same player that he was BEFORE he lead the NBA in scoring last season before Iverson was traded. He's just a gunner that doesn't make anyone better and doesn't play any defense. I remember how down everyone was on Melo before AI came on the scene everyone started mentioning how much better a player D.Wade was, and how Bosh is more valuable as a PF compared to Carmelo as a SF. Melo is just a big time shooter. I wouldn't even call him a scorer anymore because he just shoots jumpers....

whoa.whoa.whoa.WHOA!!!!!
Your telling me that the USA player of the year who is 24 and hasn't reached his prime is washed up???? DAfock is with yall?
Carmelo is a douche and yes pretty much says "lol defense" but come the hell on.......the guy is one of the top 20 players in this league.
Zach Randolph I can get the hate.
Chris Wilcox , yessir no arguments here.
Elton Brand, not so much but I'll admit I never seen much of him, so whatev'
BUT Carmelo....................you guys lost me.
yeah he doesn't really fit here, because I want ot see Thad grow but really how crazy can you be to pass up a guy who can score at will on a team that can't score worth a damn at times?
**** if Melo is advailable go after dat dude and get that shiot done.

"Figures often beguile me, particularly when I have the arranging of them myself; in which case the remark attributed to Disraeli would often apply with justice and force: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics." - Autobiography of Mark Twain
Well we've heard two kinds of lies. We might as well look at statistics.
I was shocked, shocked I say, to realize that Carmelo was significantly better this year than he was in his first two years in the league. He averaged 21 points on 43% shooting then, and 26 points on 49% shooting this year. It's hard for me not to think that he has actually done the opposite of what some have claimed (i.e. He now takes more high percentage shots.) So I checked.
Would you believe that he took 11% of his shots from three point range, 51% from two point range, and 35% inside? Before anyone says: "Ha! I told you." Let me provide some perspective:
Paul Pierce was -- 33% (3s) -- 37% (2s) -- 29% (Inside)
Tayshaun Prince--15%---------47%----------36%
Chris Bosch -------2%----------55%----------42% (and he, of course, is a power forward.)

People are certainly welcome to dislike Melo, even if it does give me pause. What I do not understand is that those who do always seem to say, like Moses on the Mount: "Wade is better!!!!" Is that supposed to be some freakin' disgrace? There is probably only one player in the league that has no one better. I always think: "Poor Detroit...Darko is much worse."

Did I ever say that? We've always known that he's the #2 guy. I don't care if you have a man crush with Carmelo, but I'd rather not see him on this team...especially considering what we'd have to give up to get him.
