Is Salmi Out As Sixers' Broadcaster???

Post#1 » by The Guilty Party » Wed Jun 11, 2008 12:01 am

Bob Salmi called into the Glen Macnow show on 610WIP this afternoon to talk about the Finals. Macnow gave Salmi credit for picking the Celtics to win against the Pistons and said that Salmi is a Celtic guy. Salmi's response puzzled me. He said, "Sure, now that I'm out of a job in Philly it's safe to call me a Celtic guy".

Is Salmi talking about the fact that he's out of a job because the Sixers' season is over or....... is he saying that he is done as the color guy for the Sixers???? I hope he's out and done-ski for good! I know that he's been working for espn.com during the playoffs.

If the 76ers bring in Mad dog Carter, then let's bring in Gus Johson as the announcer. This guy can really rock and roll. :o :D :)

Fred Carter??? He's probably better off on NBA TV where very few people get to see him. He's not bad, but I don't see him in that role.

Who's the clown up in Boston that quacks like a duck? Is that Maxwell? Unreal that he has any appel to a broadcast.

Another vote for the Mad Dog- I pointing at you!

Never want someone to be fired, but not a Salmi fan. Dorky and boring is not the best combo- although I do like the Violent shot fakes (even if he ripped it off an NFL color man.)

Carter or Mix would be good. Salmi should do the post game show.

I loved it when Mad Dog Carter filled in for Salmi last year. Salmi is OK on the post-game show, but he is like listening to paint dry during a game. I also like Carter better than Mix, but would welcome Steve back to the broadcast team too.

If Salmi is gone the best news is no more painfully unfunny references to the freaking "Salmi-strator" by Zumoff. YEA!

huh? wtf???

perhaps you mean Gus Johnson? Not for nothing, but that's a bit reckless, is1531... meanwhile, he's comfortably doing the knicks & NCAA. Zumoff is here to stay. Bring on Mad Dogggggg!

Please, let there be a God and dont let the Sixers bring back Salmi. The absolute worst announcer I've ever heard. Every chance I got I either listened to the radio, or watched them if they were on TNT or ESPN.My class on postcolonialism was more injoyable then hearing Salmi call a game.

This is great news. Salmi was awful. I missed Mix a lot last year. I also agree with a number of you that I would be happy with Fred Carter.

Fred Carter is as smooth as they come. The sixers should hire him for the ladies!

Fred Carter is 1 note. He has that irritating Ron Jaworski-like delivery on the ends of his sentences. But whereas Ron does it only every few sentences, Carter does it over and over and over.

A full season of Fred Carter might actually be more irritating than a full season of Salmi.

No way...Salmi's voice should be put in prison.
