Well it's the NBA off-season and as once described by the great Dave Halprin, it's more like the "Silly Season", so what better to do in the "Silly Season" than speculate "silly" moves your team could make? Whether it be about the prospect of them trading up in the draft for a guy named Love or bringing Shawn Kemp out of retirement, it's what all die-hard fans do to fulfill their addiction.

So how do I get my Sixer fix when I get to the point where if I see one more mock draft my head will explode? I hop on ESPN.com and click the greatest invention known to man, the NBA Trade Machine. After playing with it for hours upon end, here's a few deals I came up with. Keep in mind some of these trades are more realistic than others and the others are just down right "silly". Enjoy.

Trade #1: Portland receives Andre Miller and the 16th pick. Philadelphia receives Channing Frye, Joel Przybilla, Martell Webster and the 13th pick.

Explanation: The Blazers have an abundance of young players. They'll probably have Rudy Fernandez coming over from Europe for this season along with last year's number one pick, Greg Oden. If they are going to contend in the West they desperately need a veteran point guard to go along with their core of Roy, Oden and Aldridge. This trade gives them Andre Miller and allows them to dump some of their mediocre talent. On the other side, the Sixers move up 3 spots in the draft along with acquiring a shooter they desperately need (Webster), a solid, young post presence (Frye) and a legitimate backup center in Przybilla. Moving up three spots opens up the possibility of a real good player like, Kevin Love, Anthony Randolph, Russell Westbrook, Brooks Lopez or best case scenario, D.J. Augustin to fall into their laps. For a young team, trading Andre Miller at his highest value is probably best.

Trade #2: Memphis receives Samuel Dalembert, Rodney Carney, Jason Smith, Willie Green and the 16th pick. Philly receives Mike Miller, Kyle Lowry, Jason Collins and the 5th pick.

Explanation: It's obvious Memphis is more interested in dumping salary than winning games. That explains the Pau Gasol trade. In this deal Memphis gets rid of two big contracts in Miller and Collins. They also have been rumored to be interested in Rodney Carney over the years, so they get their man, Carney along with Willie Green to replace Miller. They dump one of their many point guards, allowing Mike Conley to win the job and Javaris and Juan Navarro to split the backup duties. For the Sixers, they do give up a lot. They give up their best big man in Sammy D along with Jason Smith and Rodney Carney, two talented young players. However; we're all kidding ourselves if we think Dalembert deserves 10+ million for four more years. Willie Green is absolute garbage, so that doesn't hurt and Rodney Carney would never see the court with Lou, Iggy, Mike Miller and Thad Young. Philly gettting the 5th pick which would be huge. Kevin Love, Anthony Randolph and Brook Lopez could all be available. Any of those guys would replace Sammy nicely.

Note: Another variation of this trade would be, Carney, Green, Smith and pick 16 to Memphis for Brian Cardinal and the 5th pick. Then at pick 5 Philly could even look into someone like O.J. Mayo or Eric Gordon.

Trade #3: New York receives Andre Miller, Jason Smith and the 16th pick. Philadelphia receives Zach Randolph and the 6th pick.

Explanation: This trade works wonders for the Knicks. It gives them a reliable, soft-spoken point guard, basically the opposite of Stephon Marbury, in Andre Miller. Miller would be perfect for running D'Antoni's offense. The trade also allows them to start David Lee, which they should have been doing a long time ago. Jason Smith isn't too bad of a throw-in either. The Sixers get the Power Forward they need. However; there are a few problems with Z-bo. He has numerous character issues, he thinks he's a point guard and he has a horrible contract. The most intriguing part of this deal if your Philly is the 6th pick. They could do a number of things with it. The smartest would be selecting Augustine or Westbrook after losing Andre Miller. They could also get extremely lucky and have Bayless fall, but that's unlikely. From a selfish standpoint, this trade would most likely give Lou a chance to win the job at PG. Most people cringe at that idea. I like it.

Trade #4: This trade would probably never, ever happen, but me and the trade machine had a moment with this one. The Denver Nuggets receive Chauncey Billups and Amir Johnson. The Philadelphia 76ers receive Rasheed Wallace, Taurean Green and Chucky Atkins. The Detroit Pistons receive Carmelo Anthony, Andre Miller, Linas Kleiza and the 16th pick.

Explanation: Alright. Big time trade here. The Nuggets make the deal because they need major change. They get a point guard to run their offense with Billups and they also get a big man with a ton of potential in Amir Johnson. The Pistons make the deal because they also need a major shakeup. They receive Melo, the go-to guy they need, 'Dre Miller a short-term replacement for Billups, a nice filler in Kleiza along the 16th pick. Philly benefits by unloading Andre Miller at his peak and getting back a big-time power forward. Atkins and Green are just CAP dumps.

The trade machine doesn't take into account our cap space until after July 1st. After that we don't have to make the salaries match.

Both Memphis and Philly are well under the cap, so the two teams can trade with no restrictions.

Any trade draft night deals probably could not be formalized until 7/1.

I took that into account.

I'm just saying that all of your deals matched salaries, but I doubt after July 1 that any of your deals would. Basically, Miller can be removed and replaced with cap space.

Your right, but I was just having a little fun with trade machine. I at least hoped this would be thought somewhat provoking to Sixer fans.

Is Chanucey Billups a big PG? Can he defend on the NBA level? And even if he can. To trade the 23(or is it 24?) year old Carmelo Anthony for a 31 year old PG??? Believe me. A Pistons-Nuggets deal is possible. But I think it's gonna be a Prince+ fillers for Melo type. That would help both teams tremendously.

We might try at acquiring Rasheed Wallace. But likely not dealing Miller in his place. If I try to acquire Sheed. I don't mind if I sac Iggy. But having Miller and Sheed's contracts together allows us to have an 09 Free agency to talk about.

The concern with Randolph is gonna be his defense(or lack there of). At the 4 position. That would bring back memories of Dalembert in foul trouble. If Randolph were average defensively, it would be great. But it makes using that sixth pick difficult. Brook Lopez would be an awesome back-up and potential future starter. Anthony Randolph is strictly a forward. D.J and Westbrook could be had at our pick or early 2nd round. If Lopez isn't there, then the pick's Eric Gordan. But where does this leave Iguodala/Young. Both are great players. I like Young better, but it remains to be seen what Iguodala can bring out of the open market. I wouldn't be upset with Lopez and definately not Gordan. But hopefully we use Iguodala as awesome trade bait.

The 2nd trade has the most benefits but also the most drawbacks. Rodney Carney and Jason Smith(especially Smith). I still think they have potential. Let's not forget, it's only Carney's 3rd year in the league. I think he's gotten the hang of what his strengths are. Now he he can utalize them. Mike Miller would fit a need at the 2 guard position and Brook could be a starter. But throwing a rookie into the wolves at the most critical position in basketball is a drawback.

The Portland deal is....GREAT. Sign me up. Pryzbilla has been a decent starter at the NBA level and wouldn't be too big a drop off from Sammy D. Finally, addressing the issue at the 5. Channing Fyre gives us another prospect at the 4. Similar to Smith. But a PF none the less.
I'd try and see if Fyre can develop handles and see if we can get him to be a 3. So we can draft Marquee Speights at 13. Speights has soo much potential. Webster's a bonus. .

The 76ers can make that Portland deal for the 13th pick wihtout giving up the 16th pick. Use the Jason Kidd deal as your prescident, so you can realize your not making a good deal for the 76ers. Miller just came off a great year.
