Sixers Draft Workout Schedule
I'm assuming this info is correct and since I haven't seen it printed any where in Philly, here's a site with each teams schedules.
http://www.thehoopsreport.com/workouts. ... iladelphia
Hickson, Donte Greene and Jason Thompson the intersting names.

I wonder when they get Speight in- or will it be one of the infamous "secret workouts?"
Speaking of the "big Secret," I'm starting to warm a bit to drafting JaVale McGee if we aren't happy with the other bigs available. For some reason I think he might develop into a Camby like presense on both ends for a running/trapping team. He seems very fluid and comfortable in his frame despite being so tall and thin.
I think it might take a few years for him to adapt to playing amongst the bigger and stronger physical bigs in the NBA (it took Camby several years to find his game) but eventually I see him as a very productive player.
He will never have great strength, but he looks quick, with a good sense of where he is on the floor and good hands and a nice touch even from distance. All of these things remind me of the unique skillset Camby brings to the table.
I guess he could end up more like Hunter than Camby- but I hope not:
What do you think after watching his highlight tapes?

i think we will get at least 1 of the below players and i wont be upset with any of them:
Speights
Hickson
Arthur
Greene
McGee
Thompson
They all fill a need we have @ the 4 or backup 5(some better than others) and all have some type of upside to them.

Re: Sixers Draft Workout Schedule
Javale McGee of Nevada. He bloomed towards the end of the year and utalized his body. Much the same story as Thaddeus Young, whom also understood his potential.
Javale has a jumper from out to mid range, decent handles and passing ability and solid post moves. He'll be a reliable double figure scorer in the NBA if he continues to develop. Defensively he's excellent at the weakside shotblock and has improved tremendously on his man-on-man defense.
He, like so many others are a prospect. But McGee has shown the most consistency in bringing it out. Therefore, you draft him.

I laughed reading the paper today where Greene was quoted as calling himself "the best SF in the draft."
Anyone who thinks of him as a PF should think about that quote before projecting him as a useful big inside. The guy almost wishes he were sh

That doesn't define Thad's college season AT ALL.
Defensively he's excellent at the weakside shotblock and has improved tremendously on his man-on-man defense.
No, he's still a below average man-man defender. He's got a LOT of work to do in that regard.
He, like so many others are a prospect.
I believe the term you're looking for is "project". Every draft prospect is a prospect. That's a little redundant, don't you think?

I do like Greene, but I agree that most PF's in the league would be able to take advantage of him down low.... That is a concern. I'd rather have Thad defending the 4 over Greene.

As long as we get front court guys with potential, I'm a happy camper. If we pick someone like Donte Greene, Nicholas Batum, or any other SF, I will lose my mind.
Micheal:.... I mean, you wouldn't arrest a guy who just deals drugs from one person to another.

I think with Greene you're looking at a 6th-7th man off the bench who can dunk and shoot threes (ala JR Smith). If he became anything more it would be a bonus (and getting a potential 7th man at 16th overall ain't too shabby considering how only a marginal amount of players taken in the draft make it these days). But he also looks like a potential headcase, I take him only if Speights is taken before us.

Agreed with these picks. I see them as in order of preference as:
Speights
McGee
Arthur
Hickson
Green
Thompson

I don't get this at all. I realize that agents are all a bunch of scum that pollute player's minds- but have they never heard that team sometimes trade up a few spots to get a player? I can't imagine Philly is seen as a horrible destination given it is a big media market and a playoff team, and has 2 starting spots open.
I can understand if a player has a promise from a top 8 team- but no way all of these players have guarantees to be drafted so high.
Any player who refuses to work out for the Sixers already has a major mark against them in my book. I don't want any primadona J.D. Drew types.
"Forget about bringing in top-10 players. The Sixers have struggled to convince anyone who could be a first-round pick at No. 16, their spot, to visit for a workout."
"Out of the 13 players the Sixers have seen in the last two weeks, only three - Syracuse forward Donte Greene, Nevada center JaVale McGee and North Carolina State forward J.J. Hickson - are projected to be drafted anywhere near No. 16."

I agree with you for the most part, but the player also has to weigh the risk of going to another workout and risking an injury right before the draft vs. the odds that the team they workout for will actually trade up and get them. If they don't feel the risk is worth it, I can understand that. Especially for the players who have already been given a guarantee by a team. They could see that team as the perfect fit for them...they may not see the Sixers as a fit at all. While I agree these guys should be happy to play in the NBA and should want to go to any team, I also see the player perspective in that this is their career and they want to finf the right fit that will help maximize their future playing time, happiness, etc.
