I'll nominate picking Larry Hughes and passing on Paul Pierce. I was kicking the TV when they passed on Pierce - it was no brainer pick. I heard they had some sort of promise to Hughes. F___ that, they should have taken the obvious franchise pick.

Drafting Stackhouse over Garnett and Rasheed Wallace. The Daugherty trade...
Oh yeah and drafting Iggy over Kevin Martin...

Passed on Penny Hardaway, who for the beginning of his career, was considered one of the best players on the planet so we could take "StickBoy".

The Day that will live in (Sixers') Infamy ... still gives me a migraine remembering them announce those moronic deals that day.

Kenny Payne over Cliff Robinson or Vlade Divac. Barkley could've used either one more than the wet noodle Payne.

1)Entire Draft Day 1986.
2)Shawn Bradley.

There have been a lot but for me... Sharone Wright as the #6 pick in 1994 has got to be up there. The guy was out of the league within 4 seasons and was a complete waste of a high draft pick. The only thing that saves him from being a lock at the worst draft day decision ever is that the 1994 draft was extremely weak and therefore there weren't any future HoF'ers selected after him.

I agree about Kenny Payne....then I think it's a tie between Bradley and Hughes. If Bradley was the same bust, but was 6'5" I think it'd be less of an issue

Ok...re-thought that. I guess it's tough for such a low pick to be the #1 bust....I'll say Hughes/Bradley

Trading Moses Malone and then the number one pick in the same draft. Two of the worst moves in the history of the franchise. Those guys in charge back then, Pat Williams, Guokas, and the owner Harold Katz really blew that draft. It took them until 1990 before they were good again and then, three years later bye bye Barkley. I wonder why every year when the draft rolls in that I get a twitch in my eye that won't go away until the draft is over. It is so much fun being a sixer fan. lol Seriously, those moves destroyed a potential dynasty in the 80's. I know drafting bradley, and passing on Paul Pierce for Larry Hughes were bonehead moves, but they pale in comparison to the 1986 debacle.

I'm a little too young to remember those drafts. Hell, I wasn't even interested until after the Larry Hughes pick (did we REALLY pass up on Paul Pierce?!).
Also, I was under the impression that Shawn Bradley wasn't a complete bust, but just didn't live up to his expectations. Am I wrong?

For those of you who are too young to remember, take the Larry Hughes debacle, the Shawn Bradley travesty and the Kenny Payne goofiness, multiply them times ten and shove a hot needle into each of your eyes without anesthesia - now you know what the entire 1986 draft/trade experience was like.

Not so much a pick than missing out on drafting Duncan and getting stuck with Keith Van Horn.

1986 has to be it. Who lands the top pick and sells it? It would be like Miami trading the #2, Wade and a future first to us for Green, Booth and Miller.

Right on. I kept hoping it was a dream but unfortunately it was true. Besides the Herschel Walker trade in the nfl, these trades stand alone as pure stupidity. Barkley even said, "If you do one of those deals, you don't do both". That being said, I'm sure we will now trade Thaddeous and the sixteenth pick to the Bulls for Aaron Gray and Cash.

And Nowitzki. Bradley just didn't enjoy playing basketball. You would have thought that the Sixers had learned their lesson after Roy Hinson.

I don't think this team will ever learn their lesson on draft mistakes. I would not be surprised if Thaddeous is dealt for some scrub and cash in the future. They will probably next trade off Reggie Evans for a third round pick even though there are only two rounds in the draft. lol.
