Get another first round pick

The Bobcats and Blazers just picked up another first round pick...for pretty much nothing...shouldn't we be looking to get another late first rounder with all the bigs that are possible available?

Yes but no we have enough youth already we don't need two picks in the draft.

Also, those players will likely be signed for this season, which would take from our cap room. At this point, every 100k counts.

I don't know too many fans who are going to say that they don't want their teams to have more first round picks so let me play devil's advocate.

As Cassidy said... don't we already have enough youth on this team?? While it sounds cool to have a team completely made up of guys 26 years and younger... I don't think this team needs to add more than 1 rookie.

Also, by trading cash for a pick, the Sixers are then eating into their cap space with another guaranteed contract. I thought we were of the belief that we need to try and trim a little more money not add another million or so to the cap? If someone slides down that the FO want, I'm sure they'll do it but I highly doubt that it will happen since we're grooming about 6 or 7 young guys right now.

I disagree, I really don't think whoever is going to join this team will all of a sudden consider oh but you know, they offered me half a million more. If they really are then alright, maybe it's a bad idea, but we could probably get a bit creative to get some more cap room if 100 thousand bucks matters to the 10 million dollar player.

But I really like the longterm potential on some of these guys. I think that we're not making a championship run this year, so in 2 years if we could have one of the Euros come over and he has a good impact, I really think it will be worth having a little less cap room.

Are there any Euros who might want to stay overseas for another year or two? If a late pick is available just for cash, that might be a reasonable way to use it.

Oh and speaking of Euros, whatever happened to that Bavcheck or whatever his name is?

I don't think we need another unless we pull of trades that take players off our roster without adding new players.

For instance, if we trade WG and our pick down 2 spots for just a pick. Well, then I would like to buy a pick in the late first or so to take a SG. Or take a SG at 16 and use the other pick on a PF/C.

i don't want another pick because:
1.this team is young enough
2.i really don't see any special player outside the loterry
3.another first pick =another $2 mil dollars taken from our cap space

Our team is young enough as is... Remember we had to cut Byars last year because we didn't have roster spots... Don't forget Hill will be back this season hopefully... I actually prefer a "seasoned" draft pick over a complete baby faced project at this point in our teams development...

We have more spots open this year (I don't think we'll resign Ollie, Amundson or Randolph), so we only have 11 players on the team. Our one draft pick is the 12th spot.

So we have three roster spaces for FAs or extra draft picks. We aren't in the same position as last year with trying to squeeze Byars on.

That said, if we can buy a draft pick, especially in the high second round, I'm all for it. High first would depend on who is available, since that contract is guaranteed. Mid to low second round, no thank you.

I think Ajinca's stock is too high now, but the mod on the draft board said that Ibaka from the Congo would be a nice pick to stash.

my ideal draft would be getting deandre jordan at 16 and picking up a pick in the mid 20s to draft hickson....thats our future starting frontcourt

Let's just do the smart thing:

Pick up another pick and get Speights or Hickson and Jordan or Hibbert. We got our future 5 with real size to back Sam up and our future banger at the 4 who can dislodge opponents. Done. Ideally, I'd want the combo of Speights and Jordan. That would make my day.
