I think the Sixers should try to get one of the PGs who is now the odd man out on their team to place him in position to take over for Andre Miller.

There opend up a lot of new options for us. I think Brand might be now more available too...

Crittenton's going to cost a lot more than Jason Smith, IMO. I think Crittenton's the one they try to hang on to, and if they do decide to move him, the league will offer a lot more than a backup big man.

I don't think that Felton is going anywhere for right now. The Bobcats are probably staying a few steps ahead of his contract demands as a high pick scoring PG.

Critt is really just a SG with vastly superior ball handling skills.
Lowry's 3 point range/accuracy bothers me, he has all of the finishing ability and good court vision but the range/accuracy on that jump shot as a midget player is worrisome.

The rest of those players have made their rounds through the NBA and have no more ability to get any better.

Felton as a potential long term starter - yes
Lowery as a long term back-up - yes
Crittenton - maybe, I'm still not sure on him
Hinrich and Ridnour have contracts that don't match their skills
Keep Tinsley far away from here

There's no way we can get Felton, and I don't see why people crack on Tinsley, the guy is a stud when he's healthy, and frankly I think "injury plagued players" are worth the risk. (otherwise we wouldn't be drooling over Elton) and Baron seems to have found his health. I know of his offcourt troubles, but that seems to be all over with now. Philly players tend to be healthy anyway lol

If we cannot get Brand or JSmith...and if we can 1) move Miller (perhaps along with Evans for Marion); and 2) get the Bulls to take Willie Green's $3 million, I would support a deal for Hinrich and his $11 million salary.

That is the only guy on that list that I am REALLY interested in. PROVEN NBA guard with playoff experience. Good size. Solid defender. Shoots the 3 well. He's overpaid - but if they take Willie G off our hands, that would help.

The other guys haven't done SQUAT...and I would rather let Lou take the point.

I don't want a PG just for the sake of getting a PG. I either want a stud or don't want one at all. None of those players do anything for me, and none is a franchise PG.

If hoopshype is correct, an interesting fact about Hinrich's contract is that it was front-loaded and goes down in salary every year. 10 million this year and 8 million in 2012.

I think you nailed why the Pacers will get rid of him...too many off court troubles, and not enough production.

Don't like Lowry d/t size, and of the list would probably be most interested in Crittenton. Not perfect, but I think he could be a nice PG. Now that they have Mayo and Conley, maybe Critt will shake free.

Excuse my ignorance, but why are you guys so low on Miller? Why wouldn't you just try and resign him next season? Does he want out?

Hinrich for Green, Booth and the Jazz pick? Chicago has Deng, Gordon and Nocioni contracts to worry about long term and save a bundle with this deal. We get our PG of the future and rid ourselves of Green.

Barbosa for Green, Booth and Jazz pick? PHX saves a bundle, we get a quality combo guard with a contract similar in years to Green but more $$$.

That is half of the measuring stick that I use when judging pro or con against any acquisitions or trades. The Sixers should only bring in: studs that play CHIP level basketball and have 5+ years left at a high level, role players that play CHIP level basketball, or young improving players that are progressing down the road of being studs that play CHIP level basketball. CHIP level basketball is just simply high level playoff caliber halfcourt basketball. Many players are just simply built for the isolations and open court game of the regular season.

Hinrich is not a stud and he's not a role player. He is, has been treated like, and has been paid like a pseudo stud player. This is a salary cap league. You can't roll the dice on these sorts of players that aren't great role players, and aren't stud players, all the while hoping that they morph into one or the other as their salary prevents the team from making other acquisitions. Hinrich is an average at best shooter, an average at best passer at PG, and an above average scorer. We already have Lou Williams who is on pace to be better than Hinrich this season. It makes no sense to me to bring in a highly paid 27 year old player that's not clearly a better basketball talent than your 21 year old developing player at the same age. It's worst that these two players have the same sort of combo guard skills.

If this was the NFL, you could do the signing. This is the NBA though and if you make a signing you are stuck with them. That is why my NBA philosophy is you only sign a player if he can blossom into something special or is already something special.

For a team on the rise, I'm very against signing expensive players that are in between. They are just a waste of cap space. The only time you spend money on those players is if you are a championship contender and need a piece to push you over the top. The Sixers should be in no business giving money away to solid but nothing more players like these. Unless you want to be stuck in mediocrity.

If a true need is there for an outside shooter and backup PG I would go with cheap free agent role players with defined skill sets like Pargo and Roger Mason that won't handcuff our developing team to the salary cap. I KNOW that Hinrich is not a quality starting PG, we will soon be in the same position that Chicago is right now, looking to move him and that bloated salary cap handcuffing contract.

If he does, W's will need to get a PG in return since Ellis cannot effectively play the position
