Summer League Roster
I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed in what I'm seeing here, but I guess you can't have everyone on the wish list.
31 Edin Bavcic ........... F 6-10 230 6/5/84 Bosnia R
11 Pat Carroll ........... G 6-5 190 9/10/82 St. Joseph's'05 R
51 Callistus Eziukwu ..... F-C 6-10 220 7/3/85 Grand Valley State'08 R
41 Sherman Gay ........... F 6-7 195 7/12/82 Loyola Marymount'04 R
18 Jamont Gordon ......... G 6-4 225 3/16/87 Mississippi St.'09 R
4 Junior Harrington ..... G 6-4 190 10/2/80 Wingate'02 3
17 Jawann McClellan ...... G 6-4 204 12/14/85 Arizona'08 R
50 Jared Reiner .......... C 6-11 245 4/8/82 Iowa'04 2
40 Dawan Robinson ........ G 6-3 195 2/10/82 Rhode Island'06 R
14 Jason Smith ........... F 7-0 240 3/2/86 Colorado State'08 1
16 Marreese Speights ..... F-C 6-10 245 8/4/87 Florida'10 R
21 Thaddeus Young ........ F 6-8 220 6/21/88 Georgia Tech'10 1
I was kind of hoping to see some names like Sean Banks, Peter John Ramos, Darius Washington, Chris Lofton, Bryce Taylor, Davon Jefferson.
Sort of surprised that Thaddeus is playing, but I guess he's just a 2nd yr player. Our lone Euro pick Edin Bavcic is back again. Carroll and McClellan we knew, Eziukwu they worked out twice pre-draft. Gordon, like I said, could be a nice pickup - they worked him out, he came out early and decided to play in the summer leagues vs going to back to school like Randolph Morris, apparently because his agent (Mike Conley, Sr.) thinks he has a good chance to make the Sixers since they had no 2nd round pick. I think that's a pretty solid call.
Junior Harrington might be ES's version of a vet PG who signs for the min. Reiner is a Bulls retread, Dawan Robinson and Sherman Gay are like NBDL types. I think one of them (Robinson) is from Philly.
Notice: No Herb Hill, no Ricky Sanchez
Also, last year's "wasted" 2nd round pick Derrick Byars is playing for Orlando's SL squad.

I'm excited to at least see Gordon on the roster... He is arguably the best undrafted player available...

I guess the 76ers lied to us. Look on the last line. They said Hill was going to be on the summer roster. Why did that change?

Well this list isn't written in stone. Perhaps he is waiting until he signs after all of the FA dust has settled.
Don't worry, that builds character and you can never have too much character...

Cool. I would also like to see Gary Forbes on the roster. He is a good slasher that could play the 2 guard. Maybe teams felt Forbes outside shot was lacking.

They waived him to create more cap space. They might bring him back later

I would bet Gordon makes the final roster given the bodies we've lost (Amundson, Randolph, Hill)...

If he signed an agent, I don't believe he can go back to school even if he goes undrafted and has eligibility left.

Re: Summer League Roster
Here is the write up on Jamont Gordon from Draft Net prior to last month's draft. I think this was a good pick-up & hope he can make the team.
NBA Comparison: Fred Jones/Antonio Daniels
Strengths: Versatile and tremendously strong combo-guard ... Fine athlete, possessing a nice wingspan ... A southpaw ... Stat-sheet filler, able to consistently contribute in 4 categories ... Built like a tank, knows how to use his body to create separation on the perimeter and space in the paint ... In constant attack mode and is willing to go at help defenders aggressively ... Very crafty scorer, utilizes hesitation, crossover and in-and-out dribbles to get his defender off-balance before going by ... Has the stereotypical shooting form of a lefty, even though he slings it a bit, it is still smooth ... Incorporates a nice step-back jumper, to go along with his reliable midrange game ... When he gets hot, he will pull up from anywhere, and his quick release and nice elevation allow him get his shot off against virtually anyone ... His body comes into play on the defensive end as well, where he can use his strength and length to legitimately defend PGs, SGs and SFs ... He has great anticipation allowing him to track down numerous rebounds; we have seen him regularly average around 7 rebounds, which is a nice attribute for a player at his position ...
Weaknesses: While he has a variety of tools at his disposal, he does not have a niche or one thing in particular that he does great ... Lacks the quickness and overall distributing ability for a PG at the next level, and is undersized for a SG, although his frame and length should offset the size deficiency ... While he is fairly unselfish, his questionable decision making and limited court vision hurt his chances of being a floor general/playmaker ... Has epitomized the definition of inconsistency throughout his time in college ... Terrible shooting games, combined with high turnover numbers bring into question his focus and preparation ... The release and follow-through on his shot are inconsistent, resulting in sporadic shooting performances, and also being the main cause to his struggles at the charity stripe ... His ability to create and finish with his right hand is very limited, and he seems to lack confidence in his off-hand when pressured ... Even though he has good leaping ability, his height - or lack thereof - substantially hurts him when finishing around the basket; he rarely gets an easy lane to the hoop, instead he is always forced to attempt an acrobatic move, which he struggles to convert at times ... Can become very lackadaisical on the defensive end, falling asleep on the weakside as well as not showing much determination in chasing over or fighting through screens ...
Notes: Has been named a 2nd team All-American by numerous outlets following his Junior year

I saw an article that said he never officially signed Conley as his agent. Report was he was just advising him. I'm not sure how that works...seems a bit shaddy, but if Conely isn't getting paid for any advice he gives then I guess it's legit.

Re: Summer League Roster
Here's what I saw re: the agent thing...
So he never signed with him, was supposed to happpen this week, but I guess Gordon decided to go with Conley instead.
Projected as a high second-round pick prior to the draft, Gordon was not one of the 60 selections announced at the WaMu Theater of the Madison Square Garden in New York.
Gordon learned of his fate while watching at home with his family in Nashville, Tenn.
A voice mail message left on Gordon’s phone late Thursday night was not returned, but, Charles Grantham, the person acting as Gordon’s agent told The (Jackson) Clarion-Ledger that there are some free agent opportunities out there for Gordon and his not being drafted was “not all bad.”
As of earlier this week, Grantham had not been officially hired as Gordon’s agent, but a deal was expected to be struck between the two soon which would keep Gordon from returning to the Bulldogs for his senior season.

Re: Summer League Roster
Ok. I he didn't sign an agent, then he could have returned to school. The OP said "his agent", so it sounded like he was officially his agent.
Regardless, I think Gordon has an obvious chance to make the team, but I'm not in love with him or have unrealistic expectations. He takes some really questionable shots, and overally makes bad decisions with the ball. He's got some skill, so I don't have a problem as a 10th-12th man, but I'm not expecting too much.

Other than Smith, Speights, and our boy Thad, the only other person I even remotely have heard of is the bababvichc dude...that name sounds familiar... who is everyone else?

Re: Summer League Roster
Dawan is a Philly guy. Cat Mobley I assume put in a word for him with the Clippers either at the beginning of this past season or the one before. I remember seeing Dawan play for the Clips during a televised preseason game. He should just go to Europe and get paid over there. For those that care Dawan is a poor man's Jeff McGinnis. You'll see that he has an array of floaters in the paint.
This Jamont Gordon could play his way into the 3rd PG spot. This will be very big for him...
I expect to see Jason Smith dominate. If he doesn't score at a pace of at least 22ppg+ then he is officially garbage.

He is one of the few good players on the 76ers summer roster. A very good player that can make the 76er team. He should be a steal for the 76ers.

Gordon is a 2 guard. He is built like a rock at 225. He can rebound in traffic.

I could have sworn that Gordan played point at Miss St.........as for McClellan he's basically sort a like Randolph in that he was a high recruit who was just average.....maybe he'll turn it around tho?
But the real deal on this squad is Pat Effin Caroll........over under 30 pts per game?

Gordon could be a Paul McPherson type player.
