Would you consider...

The LAC deal for Davis & Brand is running into some snags as GS has apparently offered Brand close to a maximum contract (starting at $16-$17 million per year). With the $65 million dollar deal ($11 million starting figure) for Davis, this leaves the Clippers about $2 million short of coming up with the dough that GS has offered for the 1st year of Brand's salary. This makes their 5 year offer at least $10 million dollars less than GS has offered. They'll probably give him another year to make up the difference but they may be looking to reduce payroll so they can offer a larger 1st year salary. With that in mind, if Philly offers Josh Smith a contract & if it is matched, would you be willing to use our cap space for Brevin Knight $1.7 million if LAC included DeAndre Jordan in a salary only deal? This would still leave the SIxers with $10 million in cap space but few decent options to use the money on.

I think if we strike out on the free agency market, these are the type of deals we should def. consider. For signing free agents, every dollar of capspace counts. If we strike out on that and are looking to use capspace in a trade, a million here or there becomes slightly less relevant. If we can use upa million of it to get something really nice back that we want (picks, etc.) it seems like a good deal.
