On the Toronto board they are saying he was told he woudnt start or something and he just left the arena.

Less chance of injury.

I wouldn't mind him playing because we all know he doesn't have the greatest off-season workout ethic.

I heard he REALLY wanted to play for Haiti.

The Haitian government has more to worry about than fielding an international basketball team.

There was probably a language disconnect... When the Canadian coach said he wanted Sammy to play defense... To the Canadian coach that meant defense... To Sammy that meant blocking and goaltending shots...

And when Sammy says "Let's win," they look at each other and start scratching their heads.

You obviously missed the game today...
Dalembert thinks he is the team, something our coach, Leo Rautins, does not appreciate. Perhaps if Dalembert didn't have such a bloated ego and self-image, he'd still have a spot on our roster.

Sounds like Sammy.
Here you have Canada vying for one of 3 remaining spots in the olympics. They've only qualified for the olympics once in the last 4 tries (probably going to be one in 5 later this week now). They've only gotten a medal once in their history. He's the only NBA player on their roster (I believe). And now he's been kicked off the team.

Don't get snippy dude. Everyone on this board will assign some blame to Sammy because we know what he's like. But on the flipside of the coin, it can't be denied that team Canada stinks and that they just cut their best player, and it sounds like Leo Rautins has his own bloated ego to worry about.

Rautins def has an ego and I think Dalembert being the only good nba player on that team probably clashed and Sammy has issues as well.
I think Rautins probably caused something to happen when he only played Dalembert like 12 minutes against Germany a few weeks ago in an exhibition. I remember looking at the box score seeing Daly had like 2 or 3 fouls for the whole game and still only played 12 minutes.
The follow-up game I think he was in foul-trouble though.
Oh well I guess Canadian basketball fans will be happy because they can make Dalembert their whipping boy when it should probably be Steve Nash the Canadian hero who isn't bothering to show up for an Olympic attempt. Hell Nash + Daly would have equaled qualifying at least.

While Sammy may have some ego issues, reading the Raptors board it sounds like the coach has some personal issues himself and isn't an experienced coach to boot.
Anyway, it would be interesting to know the full story, but at this point it seems like a non-issue for Sixers fans.
It should be much more important to Canadians, whose national basketball team unfortunately can't attract stars like Nash to their team and somehow even managed to soil relations with somebody who seemed to really want to play there.

I didn't "miss" it, because watching Canadians lose at basketball was never even on my agenda in the first place.

How does your coach handle Sammy and why couldn't Canada's coach handle Sammy?

Has Sammy ever had a personality/attitude behavior here? Interesting.

Well Sammy had a pretty bad game 1 against Slovenia. He only scored 4 points (1-8) and grabbed 2 boards in 22 minutes. What happened after that we can all speculate on. Either the coach was going to bench him or went nuts on him for playing so poorly. And then I guess Sammy decided to jet.
