Re: Stephen A. Smith: "Iggy deserves over 60 million"
Does he deserve over $60 million over 6 years? Probably. Does he deserve more than 6 years at $66? Absolutely not. And that's presuming he would rather sign a 6 year and not a 5 year contract. I would much rather sign for 5 years if I'm him since he could hit free agency again before turning 30.

If the going rate is Monta Ellis for 6yr $66M than Iggy could reasonably expect about 6 yr $70M.

He should get no more than $12-13 million per season. If he wants more(I'm quite sure he does), he'll have to go elsewhere.

I stopped watching after I heard the words "cornerstone", "franchise" and Ïguodala."

He's certainly not a franchise player or a cornerstone of this team. This shows how little Stephen A. knows about basketball. How that bag of hot air come to prominence I'll never understand. And I don't believe Iggy deserves more than Monta Ellis, who will be playing the second most difficult to find position in the league - PG, as to Iggy's easiest to find - swingman. And Ellis average as many points for a much, much better team while shooting over 50%. It's easier to put up bigger numbers on worse teams. Ellis is the much more talented offensive player. A good defensive PG won't be able to shut Ellis down - only slow him up and make him work harder. As we all saw with Iggy in the playoffs, when the defense pays attention to him, one can expect 30% shooting and 12 points a game out of him.

How SAS remains gainfully employed is still a mystery to me...he has something on someone @ ESPN.
That being said, yes, Iguodala should get over 60 million in a deal similar to Monta Ellis. The market has been set, and now they need to finalize the deal. If they lose him for trying to give him less than 6/66, it would be a big mistake.

I'm fine with 6 years/$70MIL but that's it. If he wants 5 years/$70MIL... I'm looking at sign-and-trade deals.

However, they did move him to the couch on draft night, which gave him little chance to do anything other than interviews. I found this less annoying than usual.

His interviews were absolutely atrocious as well. The guy brings nothing to the table other than idiocy and snobbery.

Re: Stephen A. Smith: "Iggy deserves over 60 million"
6/60 would be the ideal contract for both Iggy and the Sixers.
But I really think that we're going to give him around 6/66-70, mostly because of the urgency of signing him because of our promise with Elton. We can't really risk Iggy not signing with us, it would really ruin our chance to compete this year.

Stephen.A.Smith came to prominence because of his voice. Yes, he does make alot of mistakes. But when he's right, his voice is one that many NBA analysts wish to have. I only think Tim Legler has a voice that's similar in impact. I like listening to Legler, basketball smart.

Monta Ellis did get shut down in the playoffs in both series actually when the Warriors played the Mavericks and the Jazz, he had terrible numbers in both series AND he wasn't even the first option on the team.
So crucifying Iguodala because he has a bad playoff series vs one of the best defensive teams in the league.
But when guys like Monta Ellis or Josh Smith do it, tweeners who really don't have a position... It's ignored or unacknowledged.

also can we wait to see if Ellis can even play the PG position first before annointing him greatness in a box?

Possibly because Jason Richardson/Stephen Jackson/B-Diddy were in GS?
