Willie Green Vs. Royal Ivey

Post#1 » by 76ersxMVP » Wed Jul 30, 2008 9:23 pm

Ok I think these two players are about the same.. but which do you think is better? Who is the overall better player here? Royal Ivey can play both guard positions, but can Willie Green do the same..? Who is better offensely and defensely? Who can shoot and hand the ball better? Who do you trust coming off the bench more..?

ivey is a scrub/role player at best. willie green has the skills to be a good player but he doesn't know how to use them.

Ivey is a 12th man on a good day. Willie is an 8th man on a good day.

Walk the city lonely
Memories that haunt are passing by
A murderer walks your streets tonight
Forgive me for my crimes;don't forget that I was so young
Fought so scared in the name of God and Country

Willie's good day comes once a month and Ivey's is every day.

Impressive. You know why? Because Ivey had to react quickly on a switch and pick up a PF who beat his man and he stood in there, did the smart thing and tried to draw a charge. In the NBA, if his feet were outside the lane, he would have done just that.

Different players. Can't really compare them. Ivey is better defensively on PGs. Willie is a far superior offensive player. At his best, Ivey is a 4th guard, and likely a 5th one. Willie on the other hand has the talent to be a very good 3rd guard if he learns how to play off the bench. As is, one is our 4th guard and the other our 6th, so we are talking 10 minutes a game for Willie and spot duty akin to what Ollie got last season for Ivey.

Willie Green is way better than Royal Ivey. Green is a decent offensive player and a pretty good defensive player. All Ivey does is play defense.

I'm completely ok with that, you need those role defensive players to win in the NBA. In some ways, a guy that can create a tough shot for the opposing 1 or 2 is more valuable than a guy who chucks up bricks and in turn, gives up the possession.
