I caught the tail end of the segment, but they reported that Iguodala wants 6 years for 75 million.

To me that is too much.

Thoughts?

Who in god names does Iguodala think he is?

He's not Luol Deng, whom can drive and shoot the 3. He can't even create his own shot.

S/T him.

Oh wait nvm, that's about 12.5 million per year.

It's not too bad, but he's not worth that much.

I think it's a bit too high. He should be paid what Kevin martin is being paid and he's not even as good as Kevin Martin but that is what I would offer him and not a penny more.

Yeah. Those whole 9 three pointers Deng has hit in the last 2 years have defenders shaking in their boots.

6/75 would look something like this:
$9,901,000.00
$10,940,605.00
$11,980,210.00
$13,019,815.00
$14,059,420.00
$15,099,025.00
Total:
$75,000,075.00

The only way I would give him the 6/75 is through incentives. He must meet the following:

1) His FG Percentage must be 47/48 percent throughout the course of the year

2) His 3pt percentage must be 36-38 IE: Above the NBA 3pt average.

If he can do that, he can have all the money he wants :D

It's not so terrible, but it is a bit too high. 6/70 would be a lot better. Hopefully they can compromise...

Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I was actually somewhat relieved that this was the number he was looking for based on the original comments that he was seeking max. money. In fact, I don't even find it that offensive in light of the contract Deng just agreed to. Both players were in the same boat last year and Deng sulked, did virtually nothing to stop his team from the tailspin it went into last year, and was prepared to give his team an ultimatum this off-season if a deal wasn't done. Iguodala not only continued his annual improvement, but he also morphed into more of a leader as well, while helping his team prove every expert out there wrong in the 76ers making the playoffs.

To me, this is now within striking distance and also within reason.

I think ed needs to focus on L.Williams. I still believe lou if given the time is going to be the better player in the long run ...iggy replaceable to me.

The only two incentives I would find acceptable in a contract would be for wins and games played. Anything outside of that opens the door for selfishness. Even minutes played begs for a rift between the player and coach.

As for six years, $75 million, I think its too much, possibly to the point where a sign and trade might be in order if Iggy won't take less. I don't think he's worth much more than $70 million over six years. And yes, I realize that it's not even a million more per year, but a line needs to be drawn at some point.

noobs.

Doing a calculation, 6/$75 million is 5/$62.5 million....which isn't too bad if a little high. Figures that Iggy is comparing his value to Deng's, whom I feel was paid a little too high for last year's woes.

Maybe adding incentives would make it better, but otherwise not too shabby an asking price from Iggy.

Am i the only one that sees this as a good thing? They are still in negotiations. If Iguodala doesn't want the max and this is his high it's a good thing. I can't see Iguodala signing the QO if we give him the same offer as Deng. Hell even a little less.

Basing incentives on aspects such as total 3 pointers made might promote selfishness, but I don't see how some sort of sliding incentive based on efficiency stats such as three-point FG% would realistically negatively affect a player's game.

Two questions to those who feel Deng is better.

1. What are you smoking?
2. Where can I get some?

This is perfectly within reason. Honestly, I've seen much worse contracts than this. MUCH worse. Just get it done Ed.

Since when is a +1 PPG ever considered improvement? We were expecting BIG TIME numbers from Iguodala.
