NBA Schedule To Be Released Today

According to the WireTap, today is the day that the NBA schedule will be released on nba.com and the various team websites. I haven't given much thought previously but I do think the following games will be interesting to watch.

1. Sixers @ Clippers: Seeing Brand return to LA will obviously be interesting. Last year, we were on the other end of a star player coming home, now we're on the flip side. I like this side better.

2. Celtics @ Sixers: They're the reigning champs and we have a good squad. FINALLY, this rivalry might be raised from the dead.

3. Nuggets @ Sixers: A year a half ago when the Sixers first played the Nuggets and AI, we were the team that was projected to miss the playoffs and they were the talk the of the league. Now, things have swapped around and AI will be coming in here probably wishing he were back in a Sixers uni.

4. Pistons @ Sixers: Is this a rivalry? If Dumars doesn't trade any of the starters, I imagine this will be a game in which the Philly crowd gives it to the Pistons. This could be a great atmosphere.

Aside from those games, I'll also be interested to see if we're actually on National TV this season and if so, how many games. The combination of making the playoffs last year and adding Brand should put us on TNT and ESPN around 5 times.

I think it will be more interesting if the schedule was jam-packed with games against teams like Oklahoma City. Not because of the new location, but wins are more important to me.

I'm going to make the bold prediction that the Sixers will play OKC twice this year. Once in Philly, once in OKC. :-)

Over on the Toronto board they are saying that Toronto will play in Philly on opening night, I think this could be the start of a battle for second in the Atlantic.

And I will make another prediction that OKC won't win either. :-)

LOL While I think it's unlikely that we finish above the Celtics this year, I'm not about to just give in with that sort of attitude.

We are heads and shoulders above the Toronto Craptors. It's more like a battle of third between them and NJ.

While I'm all for competing against the Celtics, I also don't think we're "head and shoulders" above the Raptors.

raptors are a pretty solid opening night. They are a good team but the raps are the division team I get least excited about playing (okay, maybe the Knicks at this point). They aren't the celts, I can't really get any venom going for the raptors though. Maybe its just me but they don't do it for me, they're filler.

Their is more wine at the table, so you can study your precious schedule, lol. Maybe after you finish studying the schedule the Clippers will have signed a few more players, after picking of Steve Novak. Tell me what is more exciting, reading about Steve Novak and his 2.7 points a game or the 76ers schedule. I prefer neither. I want to hear that the 76ers have signed the king of airballs, Andre Iguodala.

At first I wanted Clips @ Sixers for the opener, but the more I think about it, it would be better to wait a few weeks or months until both teams get acclimated to their new players. Then mid-season we meet up and all the emotions for Brand come back. Kind of like AI back in Philly last year.

possible openers:
Celtics @ Sixers - defending champs vs team on the rise, division rivals
Blazers vs Sixers - Oden's opener vs Brand's new team, two talented teams on the rise
Pistons vs Sixers - rematch of playoffs, see how much we've improved

I could see any three of these games being aired on National Television, along with Nuggets @ Sixers and Sixers @ Clippers.

Though I do think we will be a better team (record-wise) than the Raptors this year, I agree with TGP that we are definitely not "heads and shoulders" above them. yet. I also don't think they will be battling the Nets for third place. To me, the Atlantic standings seems pretty predictable right now, barring major injuries.
    1. Celtics
    2. Sixers
    3. Raptors
    4. Nets
    5. Knicks

I'll be shocked if we don't get some national games this year. Although they may just stick with their SA, Detriot, LA, Cleveland, Chicago, Phoenix formula they seem to love so much.

Anyone know around what time we're suppose to find out?

Only 7 nationally televised games...

Nov. 6 @ Orlando [TNT]
Nov. 26 vs Orlando [ESPN]
Dec. 10 vs Cleveland [ESPN]
Feb. 18 vs Denver [ESPN]
Apr. 4 vs Detroit [ESPN]
Apr. 9 @ Chicago [TNT]
Apr. 14 vs Boston [TNT]

Odd that neither of the Clippers games (Nov. 21 - Home, Dec. 31 - Away) will be aired.

I'm liking the schedule. We have a lot of easy games to start off with which is good because it gives the team a chance to get off at a good start and gain some momentium. A 5-0 start seems VERY probable(Raptors, NY, @ATL, Sac, @Miami is as easy as they come). Other than that the Dec road trip seems brutal.
I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of National games we get though.

7 is fine with me, don't forget they sometimes add games in during the year.

The only reason I think the Clippers game won't be aired is because they should suck.

We could realistically start the year off 10-2 (i expect two losses between Orlando, one of the Toronto games, or Utah).

Anyone have any ideas why the games against New York (Feb 27) and against Cleveland (Apr. 15) are being played in Minneapolis and Florida, respectively?
