Bob Salmi Will Be Back

Post#1 » by The Guilty Party » Fri Aug 8, 2008 1:34 pm

I know this will make most of you happy, so here is the response I got from the Sixers' PR rep in response to whether Bob Salmi will be back as color commentator...

Thank you for the email. We always welcome feedback from our fans …

To answer your particular question, Bob Salmi will return this year as the color analyst for our television broadcasts.

Best regards,
Michael

Woo hoo! So there you have it. It's a damn good thing that we will have one of the more exciting teams to watch this season since the television broadcast seems determined to put us to sleep. I don't understand how/why Salmi was brought back.

Salmi is really incredibly boring. I never thought I'd say this but I wish we had Steve Mix back. Salmi just seems so much better suited for post game.

I said a similar thing... here's my initial e-mail to the PR department....

Hey Mike,
I know this seems like a petty question but it's August and boredom has finally corrupted my soul. Do you know if Bob Salmi is going to be back as the color commentator for the Sixers' games this season? He seems like a nice enough guy but he's far too vanilla for most of Sixer Nation. He makes a great post-game guy... but he seems to lack the fire and enthusiam that most commentators around the league have.

Will he be back?

Thanks for your time.

The man works cheap. I suspect the first thing Salmi will tell us is, how the double teams on Brand are going to create space for Green, Rush and Iggy. Thanks Bob, I wasn't prepared for that. Bob was the first guy I remember around 22 years using the name Chuck Barkley. He use to do some games on radio with Jon Gurovitch. The 76ers were too cheap back then to provide road radio commentators. DR Bob Weinhauer did color on the home games, but when he could not make the games, their was the ever present Bob Salmi. Listening to Bob Salmi brings back all those bad memories of Albert King, David Henderson and Bob Thorton. It does not get any worse than this.

He was fine on the post-game show, but his in game work is a sure cure for insomnia. Let's not even begin to discuss the Salmi-strator.

i wonder if it would be worth it for everyone to email them. I mean it may not change immediately, but they gotta listen to the masses eventually.

I guess I am the only person who doesn't mind Salmi... maybe it is because I am white. Come to think of it I really like JVG and Hubie Brown as well... weird.

Only slightly better news than Smith's injury.

He mentions Andre Miller's shot fake about 15 times per game. I want to hit the mute button every time he goes into a diatribe about it.

Bob has a strong appreciation for the game and that's always welcome. But I'd like to see the man change it up a bit. Be more passionate for what's happening right now. Marc Zumoff is fantastic. I loved the Zumoff/Mix combo. And so did the east, how many emmys those two won.
