Donyell Marshall worth a look?

There's another guy that is now available(just got released by OKC) that can hit the 3 Pointer that could probably be had for cheap, what do you think?

most definitely from my perspective. he's a local product out of Reading and I went to his basketball camps as a kid, haha.

not sure what he's done since he got the extension in Cleveland, he may be done in the NBA, but if he can bring his versatility and 3 point shot, i'd gladly take him for the minimum.

Remember when he was a free agent and everyone wanted to give him the MLE and start him at the 3?

Yeah that would have been bad.

If he could drop 12 threes a game like he did against us, then sure... :)

After his stint in toronto I was all for giving him the MLE and I was hoping he would come here - Now in retrospect like Sixerscan said that would have been bad since his output and overall skills quickly declined - As for giving him a look now NTY - Im all for keeping a close eye on the waiver wire but one mans trash is not always anothers treasure

I just realized that Ive posted more in the last few days than in the last few months - I always found Sendem very obnoxious and find the board much nicer and more fun to post on since he was removed

10 through 12th Man?

Minimum deal?

As long as he doesn't blow his hair out again, why not?

Losing Jason Smith for the season leaves room for another big who can shoot. Marshall is 35 years old, is a career .34 % shooter from the 3-point range & he's 6' 9" so that he can play spot minutes at either forward position. He would fit the spot that could be filled by Fazekas or Croshere. Sounds like another vet's minimum contract to me. Hope Ed feels the same way.

I don't think his career averages are reflective of the player he is today. His skills have greatly deteriorated.

I have no interest. The guy done and by done... I mean that he can't play in this league anymore. If we had a hole at the 4, I would be interested but we don't. As bad as he might be as a PF at this point in his career... he'd be even worse if we put him out there as a 3.

I think he fits what this team needs right now. You can never have too much depth if you wanna make a title run and veterans like him are what help teams make it deep into the playoffs. Our depth would be much improved.

Miller/Williams/Ivey
Iguodala/Rush/Green
Young/Marshall
Brand/Speights/Evans
Dalembert/Ratliff/Smith

That's a good 14 man roster right there IMO. Perfect blend of vets, VETS (Ratliff, Marshall), and young guys. And every man on the bench can be used in different situations like crazy. They all have some sort of specialized strength that can be used on a championship team. To tell you the truth, if we signed Marshall, my ONLY worries about us being on Boston's level or not is whether or not Miller can repeat last season's success, mesh well with Brand, and Iguodala being able to shoot at a consistant rate from outside. Other than that, I am EXTREMELY confident in what the team listed above can do.

Edit: And it makes me cringe every time I see us being compared to Toronto. I haven't even entered those threads, but it's obvious to me who the better team is when both are healthy. In terms of chemistry and being a team oriented squad, we are one of the better teams in the league in that category.

I would rather see Fazekas signed. Marshal would have been the right fit 3 years ago, but he's done. If we want a clutch vet 3 pt shooter we should go get Mr. Big Shot (has he resigned with the Spurs?)

No thanks, he's on the twilight as of now and about to fade out. Too many bodies in the front court anyways.

I'm not trying to be a jerk... but have you watched Marshall in the past 2 seasons? The guy can't play the 3 anymore at this point in his career so please don't list him as a backup SF unless you want to see turnstile defense at it's best.

not to mention that speights isn't gonna be promoted ahead of evans in the lineup....no way that happens this early.

but going back on topic, i'm with most of these guys here....leave marshall be.

DJ Strawberry might not remain in Phoenix per wiretap. He's a young talent with a cheap price tag that I'd take a flyer on.

That's not a bad name. Rather than looking for an old tin man to rot on the bench, I think Stefanski is better off taking a flier on a young talent who might develop into something.

He went to my high school in Reading, PA so it would be pretty cool if he played for the Sixers
