OT: 2008-2009 Philadelphia Eagles Thread

Post#1 » by sixers_610 » Sun Sep 7, 2008 8:50 pm

So, that was some of the worst defense I have ever seen from an opponent. DeSean Jackson looked like an all-pro out there today.

Pros: Offense looked great, McNabb was solid, defense was excellent

Cons: We play @Dallas in 8 days.

Maybe Jackson will be an all-pro... :)

It was a great start to the season. You can say it was thanks to a horrid defense, but McNabb looked amazing. We'll see how they do against Dallas next week...

It wasn't just Jackson. This is the first time in YEARS we got 3 receivers with 100+ yards. Our Offense was great. Sure, alot of that may be because the Rams suck, which is a shame. You'd think a SB Contender or title winner would be consistently back there. But the Panthers and Bucs and Ravens all had their on and off years. So did we. But the Rams have fell off completely.

We've had lots of OT topics about the Eagles before and so I don't think this is a problem but I do know that RealGM wants everyone to know that they also have an Eagles' Forum on this site.

viewforum.php?f=173

That board is pretty slow but I think it'll start picking up. I've posted a couple of times on it and would recommend any Birds' fan do the same.

**************

As for the game today.... SOLID WIN! The thing I keep telling myself is that the Rams were and are a terrible team. Next week will be a great chance to see what kind of team we have this year.

Bill Belichick must be fuming right now. And somewhere, so is Brett Favre. Where would Favre rather be? With a 50/50 shot playoff contender New York? Or with Bill Belichick and the High Powered New England Patriots?

Matt Carroll? The same Matt Carroll that got steamrolled in the Preseason? If the Patriots make the playoffs it will be a true testament to Belichick's coaching abilities.

And it would end Spygate's legacy on NE. This could be a goddess in disguise for NE and Belichick.

How would the addition of Favre and subtraction of Brady help end the Spygate Legacy? Wouldn't Belichick still be the coach hence the tarnished legacy still exist?? Also, since when did the pre-season mean anything??

I love the PHI defense.

Young, fast and hungry.

You distorted my entire post(or rather turned it upside down) in a way only possible by John McCain no offense.

I never said the addition of Favre would help end the Spygate Legacy. What I said was that Favre would rather be in New England then little ol New York Jets team.

Uh no. That's not what I was referring to. I was referring to the fact that if Matt was their QB and they made it to the playoffs. Hell, even the AFC Title game. I think that it clears Spygate amazingly well.

Have you seen Patriot Preseason games. I'm sure Bill was thankful for the season to get there. Now he's stuck watching Matt for a whole year. Have fun.

No. I'm pretty sure he read your post pretty accurately...

Spygate happened. Whether or not they make it to a championship game (unlikely) doesn't clear that or change that.

Patriot PRE-SEASON Games. Again, when did pre-season mean anything? Winning or losing is irrelevant. It's an evaluation period mostly centered around 2nd/3rd teams and guys on the edge of the 53 roster.

Evaluation is the key word. And the evaluating process is that Matt Carrol sucks, PERIOD. Whether he's on the first team or the 3rd team.

Nothing will ever Change Spygate. But success with a clearly inferior QB like Carrol will make people say that Belichick is the real deal. It's like if someone took steroids relatively early in their career but stopped using them. That someone is still a cheater. But if he accomplished pretty much the same stuff without cheating then he's earned alot of props in my books.

If NE gets into the playoffs and if they get into the AFC title game with Matt Carrol as their quarterback, I have gained loads of respect for Belichick.

You're right. Matt Carroll can shoot threes, but I don't think he's much of a quarterback...

You can only hope to contain T.O, but you won't even be able to do that if you keep putting small corners on him. Other then that, I LOVE the way our defense has played. ST.Louis and early on here tonight we're pressuring the middle.

What a great game so far. It's been very fun to watch.

Eagles up 30-24 at the half. Second highest scoring Monday Night Football game in NFL history.

Ultimately, you try to attribute losses to the whole team. But I can't do that since the offense played GREAT. It showed that St.Louis was no fluke. The loss goes to the Special Teams who allowed that touchdown. If it weren't for that, we're 2-0 and talking about an major upset.

Sooooo close
Walk the city lonely
Memories that haunt are passing by
A murderer walks your streets tonight
Forgive me for my crimes;don't forget that I was so young
Fought so scared in the name of God and Country

Tomorrow we face another young, elite QB. Big Ben has won a SB already and has made the playoffs. He led a Steelers team to a technical undefeated season in his rookie year! But Donovan McNabb is just ON FIRE. I hope he keeps it up heading into this week because it feels like we have something special with this Donovan McNabb. I can't fault McNabb when half of his incomplete passes are dropped balls. Those are ones you wish you could take back. I'm ecstatic about our offense and this team. May I predict 11-5?
