New topic ideas

Post#1 » by tk76 » Wed Sep 10, 2008 6:35 pm

I was thinking of starting a few threads that I will bookmark and then occasionally bump over the course of the season so we can track how certain Sixers issues play out. I don't want to spam the board with too many threads at once, so I figured I would list some of them here, and see if anyone has suggestions for other "tracking threads."

Again, these won't be stickied, but i will bookmark them on my computer so they can be brought up through the course of the season to see how peoples views have evolved as we learn more about the team.

Season Tracking Threads:
1. Young- exdpectations and development as a wing player.
2. Speights- Expectations/predictions and development as a post play and possibly a center.
3. Lou- Potential as a score. potential as an eventual starting PG.
3. Team shooting issue.
4. Crystal ball- what future moves do you see Ed making in the next 12 months and why.

Season Predictions Threads:
1. Wins- already done
2. Player stats- already done
3. How far in the playoffs/what would be a successful season

Any other ideas?

I guess none of these would be "new" topics. Its more that hopefully they can be followed over the course of the season instead of constantly being rehashed in new threads. I'll start with the crystal ball thread.

You are a man on a mission this season, tk. I dig it.

This kind of goes along with what you're talking about here... what about game threads?? I've done it for 2 years and am more than willing to let someone else take over. Anyone, anyone???

I'm sure someone will step up- but you might have to wait until closer to the season when this place gets busy again. I did game threads for the summer league and last pre-season, but they looked bad, I bet Kanga could make some great looking game threads. You should IM him now that you have those special mod superpowerz.

The problem (a major one) with PMing people is that they can't PM back on here. Hopefully that problem gets resolved but until then, any and all conversations are going to be one-sided in my favor and I'm not a fan of that.

I don't know if kanga will show up often enough to post game threads but if I end up doing them again this year... I might ask him to make some sweet graphics for them. The guy has skills.

By the way, I sent you a PM in "another place"... did you interview for the mod job? I gave your name to Howard (the guy that runs the foums).

Nope. But I think the current crew should be able to keep things running smoothly- and if not there always is the other board to retreat to. The best thing about not being a mod is that I can (try to) ignore the more annoying posters and let you guys do the work. Between the two boards there should always be a good place for sixers discussion.

Should be interesting this year. I enjoyed posting while the team was down, since I felt like I found a group of fellow diehards and there was lots to discuss about how to improve the team. Now the team has high expectations and soon a higher profile, it will be interesting to see how this board shakes out. Hopefully the winning will keep things upbeat.

BTW, Fagan has taken over posting DeepSixer- hopefully she will post as actively as Narducci did last season.

Did Narducci get Deep-Sixed? Where's he at now?

As for the board... well, as we've already seen... I think there will be a number of new posters who will show up with their chest sticking out who will create posts as long as the Declaration of Independence in order to show the rest of us how my basketball knowledge he or she has. I think we'll see plenty of that type of poster and lots of teenagers who suddenly become fans of the team. In all honesty, I don't/won't have a problem with either as long as they keep things on a respectful level.

I'm a strong believer that if the guys who normally post here (myself, tk, Scan, dabods, Fire BK, Hoops, ankle, Skates, samson, Knux, etc) along with some of the stronger new additions (geiger, AD28, kanga).... I think I forgot some people.... anyway, if we keep doing what we've been doing, I think newer people will see that this is a board for DIE-HARD fans who know their stuff but at the same time, we don't act like we're in eighth grade. If/when they see that, I think they'll jump in with both feet and fit in. At least, that's me being optimistic.
