Do you think it would be a good idea to pick up Darius Miles? Since he got cut from boston, it could bite them later on. I dont know how full our roster is but I think it's worth a shot.

I don't want him in Philly, but it would be great to see some team pick him up and play him in enough games (10 or so, I believe) to cancel Portland's injury exemption and put him back on their cap.

Portland is far too talented to have any cap space.

I agree with 9th. The only interest I have in Miles is in seeing him sign with some team so that he can get his 10 games in and screw the Blazers over a bit. I don't want that team to be us though.

Also, I haven't looked at the teams with projected cap space yet but if you're a team with either a player you believe the Blazers will make a run at or a team who figures to compete with the Blazers for free agents next year... then why wouldn't you sign Miles to a minimum contract??

I wonder if there is any recourse/grievance the Blazers could file if a team like Memphis decided to pick up Miles, play him 2 mins a game for ten games and then cut him?

I must say, it would be pretty hilarious to see.

If we are still looking for a body for that 15th spot I would look first at Elton Brown, recently cut by the Bulls, although I do hope someone picks up Miles so that Portland does not get all of that clear cap space.

Don't think Miles will get another look for a while and he did himself no favors with that 10 game suspension. At this point, he just hasn't shown enough to overcome his other baggage.

As for Elton Brown, he's just not an NBA quality player. We have no need for him. If we pick up another body, I hope it's someone like Ruben Patterson - a SF who can play multiple positions and be a good defensive player at all of them.

In all likelihood, we will go into the season with 13 players and Jason Smith on IR. No need to limit our flexibility for potential moves by signing someone to fill the last spot and go with a full 15. To do so, it would have to be something great and unexpected falling into our lap.

I'm not sure where he would fit. From what I've heard in the preseason, he's lost most, if not all of his athleticism and is a black hole with the ball. He doesn't shoot threes and can't be depended upon for defense.

Only reason a team would pick him up would be to screw over Portland and I don't see that happening because league managements are a fraternity.

Not so much because of that, but because no one is stupid enough to take up a roster spot, spend a million dollars, have the potential of bad publicity and locker room problems, and restrict own movement flexibility just so another team that is already stacked with young talent and will have a huge amount of cap space, will have a little less cap space for one season. Decisions are made by what will help you win, not what will reduce the likelihood of someone else winning. It's a business.

Something tells me Mo Cheeks wouldn't be alright with that... (they did not exactly get along in Portland)

I'd rather take a flyer on DJ Strawberry who was just waived.
