WOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!

The Halloween theme is siiick!!! Seriously Kanga, your game threads alone are going to make this season memorable. I'm hoping we're going to have some well themed threads for Christmas etc...

Back to the game...

We need this win, to get back on track. Sammy needs to shoot less, Iggy needs to be more efficent, and Thad just needs to slow down, hence the foul trouble. Oh and please activate Speights!

I'm pretty worried about Brand right now, but I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and allow him 15-20 games to settle in. By then if he's not putting up +19/10 on 50% shooting, I'm going to be really disappointed in this signing.

Again this gamethread!!

Bounce back game the Sixers will have something to prove since everyone is doubting them after one game. I say 118-110 win

The game threads are way better than the actual team right now. Ok, I'm overreacting after just one game but seriously, our offense looked TERRIBLE on Wednesday Night. Hopefully we can get out run on Friday but then again, that seems to play right into the Knicks' hands. They did have a nice win over Miami by putting up 120 points.

My Prediction: Knicks by 5+

It's not so much that Sammy needs to shoot less, as he needs to make more. I'm fine with him taking 9 shots a game. If he can make 5 of them and get a few foul shots in there, we might have something.

It was a tough match-up. Not very happy by the number of minutes Willie Green got nor by the fact that this team still struggles to guard the perimiter.

I wonder if Cheeks is going to tinker with the line-up at all in light of the small ball line-up DiAntoni is going to troll out there. Randolph will be at center, Lee at power forward. Hopefully we pound the ball inside and some jumpers start falling.

It was his first game in Philly, he is coming off an injury, new team, etc. So he'll get better. But most of all it was the fact that they had super star Chris Bosh who is a 7 foot tall beast and Jermaine O'Neal, who is not only 7 foot, but one of the best defensive big men in the game. It was a tough match up for him. Brand should be fine. He'll get better as the season progresses. Will be better against the Knicks.

People are giving the Knicks alot of credit for that 115-120 game. Too much credit. The Miami Heat only have 3 players(The Fab 3). That will play in the NBA. 2nd round picks like Mario Chambers(Not a Lou, a Ellis or an Arenas). Are decent, not great. Seriously, the Heat will win 30-35 games. Still be a top-7 lottery team.

The key to this game is simple: Without the turnovers and the silliness. Play like you did in the first quarter of the last game. Play to your Potential. Which flat out killed the raptors. That 21-18 score is decieving. More like 21-10.

My Prediction: We get the first blowout of the season 110-91.

21 to 18 is 21 to 18 and a loss is a loss. You're as good as your record is. You score only as many points as you score. You give up as many points as you give up.

We should be able to beat the Knicks and do so handily.

The Raptors were a terrible match-up for the Sixers in the early season. A precise team that doesn't turn the ball over. The Knicks are a great match-up for the Sixers. their big men don't block shots or play much D in general and they want to run with us. Until this team gets its act together in the half-court on both ends, in about 20 games or so I would guess, they need to feed on teams like the Knicks. I didn't read the GDT from last night, but our second team is missing the athleticism of a guy like Carney. Hopefully Ivey will help out there some next week, plus Speights when he earns some time.

Carney was the last guy off the bench last night for theWolves. I wonder if he will be ale to work himself into being more than a bit role player. Maybe we will see him back on the Sixers in a couple of years if things do not work out for him in Minny.

I have a feeling Carney will be playing in Turkey or in Russia next season. He played like crap in the pre-season for the Wolves and is barely in their rotation now. He's a guy who has athleticism and little else to show for it. One of the few truly terrible picks we've made in recent years.

Ivey is not particularly athletic, but is still a tenacious defender at guard. We will run into problems if Cheeks insists on playing the 6-3 Willie Green, already not a particularly good defender, at SF.

I don't think we are hurting athletically from the bench. Williams is obviously a beast. Green is actually a pretty decent athlete at SG and so is Rush. Speights, when he starts playing, will be an athletic big for us and Smith will be back next season as well.

We don't have a true shut-down swingman off the bench or a great shooter. The swingman part is not as critical with Iggy and once Young develops a bit more and gets comfortable on the wing, but the shooter we obviously still lack.

Let's not discount how many new faces we have and how the team has changed with the addition of Brand. They won't gel overnight with a new number 1 options and a new offense, with Iggy shifting to the 2 and Young to the 3, and with a largely new bench. It might be painful at first, but we owe them some patience in the beginning.

But I absolutely agree - even this early on, even while we are struggling to learn how to play together and with new positions, we have to feast on the bad teams to stay afloat and the Knicks are unquestionably a bad team right now.

If its any consolation, I watched the first televised Celtics game last season, and they looked more out of synch than the 6ers did last night...though they probably shot a bit better.

I would agree on our second unit if Rush had gotten more time. Green and Ivey will be an interesting combo, Mo may use them differently depending on match-ups. They need Speights athleticism and scoring in the front court as soon as his D is deemed ready for meaningful minutes.

Other than resolving our future at PG betwwen now and next year, next summer's prime target needs to be that second team swingman who can defend, handle and hit the three. A younger James Posey type will fit in nicely, plus we get Jason Smith back. As a contender this team is at least a year away. As a good team they are about 15-20 games away.

I'm sorry. But while the Sixers offense was pretty bad. Their rebounding was pretty damn good(67 boards). And for what it's worth, Toronto's front court is vastly superior to yours. David Lee hustles, he's an under-rated star caliber player but he's no Bosh or O'Neal. And Randolph? He's good for 20/10. But he doesn't open up the dimensions of the offense.

The Knicks have been amazingly competitive with Mike D'Antoni. And that's a start. But their win percentage won't improve. Blame that on Donnie Welsh. Who has had a horrible off-season. Drafting Danilo who? He might fit that team's running game. But he doesn't fit a need for that team. They needed a PG if they were going to move away from the Marbury Era. Duhon is a solid clog. Kind of a Mini Miller. But he's no savior at that position. In fact, he's probably not an optimal starter.

Had you drafted D.J Augustin or Jerryd Bayless. And prepare those guys for the future. Your future would look alot brighter. But as of now, 5'9 liability Nate Robinson is your point guard. I'm sorry to rain on your parade and give you the reality of that roster and the GM isn't that better then Isiah.
