Denver expected to buy him out
Mcdyess could be the first big of the bench and even though we like our rookey big i belive Mcdyess
is better for the win now mode in the next couple of years.

Mcdyess will probebly sign for the league minimum with a contender

Interesting thought. He's still a banger, gets boards. Can shoot the mid-ranger. Basically, he's Reggie Evans without the offensive limitations. Go for it. Can't hurt for a yr.

We don't have the sufficient funds to sign him.

I'd rather give minutes to Speights then Dyess.

Expect the Lakers and Celtics to come calling. Reggie and Speights will be fine, thanks.

The short answer is no, I have no interest in him. John Hollinger seems to think that he may stay in Denver. Phil Jasner reported on DNL that he has heard that Denver has offered to buy him out for HALF of what he is owed but that he refuses to accept it. Denver will waive the physical for him and so this could drag on for a bit.

If he does get bought out, I could see him going back to Detroit or maybe back to Phoenix since he has all kinds of connections there.

Thing is. Not ONE player(Sans Rush) has been used by Mo that wasn't on the team last yr(except Brand obviously). We have a pretty nice bench and a team that could realisitcally win 54 games. At least, if the coach were any good. Oh well. It's beating a dead horse at this point.

me too.

here is the thing , i dont belive Mo will give Speights the minutes

unless ES will come knocking down his door and force him to do so.
and if we have a coach who has to be told by the GM who to play what good is he for?

I read he either wants to go back to Detroit or just retire.

I wouldn't turn him down if he wanted to come here. But the fact of the matter is, he won't.

I doubt Denver releases him and I doubt he would even want to come here. Unless there are injuries, there are only so many minutes to go around. At this point, we simply don't have a need for him. He can still be a good and effective player, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. We have well defined roles for our big men, with Speights likely getting more minutes as the season progresses. If we were a legitimate title contender this season and a guy like McDyess was released, I would be doing all I can to land him if I'm the GM, but being that we are not quite there yet, it makes little sense for us or for him.

yes we should try and get mcdice..wtf was brand doing getting 44 minutes the other night?! cheeks best get off the early season major minutes and mcdice would just maybe be our best 15 ft shooter!

Brand got 44 minutes because he's our featured player and on some nights, he'll play 44 minutes because team's number 1 options sometimes play 44 minutes. McDyess, even if released, is not coming here. He has no interest in being a deep reserve on a mid-level playoff team. He would either go back to Detroit or sign with a team like the Celtics, Houston or the Lakers.

if evans is our first big off the bench then mcd would get that slot( not a deep reserve).and cheeks best play his bench..especially speights..that best be the last 44 minute early season game for brand!so to answer the question in the post...yes!

No. The Sixers don't need him. Frontcourt depth is not what this team needs. This team needs time to learn to play together. Adding another piece would just make things more complicated.

The Sixers remind me of a football team that used to pass the ball a lot with an inferior running back. Now, when they get an allstar running back (Brand), they need to figure out how to run now.

If you would rather Evans or Speights in the game over Mcdyess, you might be smoking crack. McDyess would not want to come here.
