The first thread for discussion with Tom got up to 99 pages so rather than have that reach some ridiculous number... it's time to start fresh.

Tom... I hope you had a good weekend. Any rumblings about the Miller situation?

I read last week where N.O. and the Suns could swap Wallace for Chandler at any time. Have we re-explored the possibility of moving Delambert for Chandler?

nothing new on dalembert and chandler. they want to cut salary....much easier for them to take ben wallace's expiring then take sam's plus pay a trade kicker. that one has no chance at happening.

i think sam is gonna be here..but not because we lacked trying to move him.

Looking at salaries around the league, and presuming that Dalembert would bring back a contract or contracts of similar length and size and taht the Sixers would not take on additioanl years, there are very few potantial landing sites for him, especially if you eliminate teams like NO that are trying to cut salary right now:

Phoenix - A deal based around Jason Richardson.

Charlotte - The previously much rumored Vlad and Nazr deal

Dallas - A deal built around Eric Dampier

Indiana - A deal built around Jamal Tinsley and Jeff Foster (But O'Brien hates Sammy IIRC)

That is about it for teams that might need or want a player like Sammy and have similar contracts to return. I presumed we would not get any expirings for him or that the Isxers would take on a longer term deal (like Sammy for Rip Hamilton, pipe dream thought that is). That is not much to work with, hard to see Sammy going anywhere.

there really isnt bibby chatter...he wants 3 years...he will resign with ATL

i think miller commits to portland this week....only thing i dont know is if we will get steve blake or not.

Why would Portland send us Blake when they can sign Miller outright? If I were them I would just sign Miller and then deal Blake in an effort to get a backup PF.

thats what i am saying..i dont know if they sign him outright or not.

they can do what you said..or they can sign and trade for blake...then use the 4-5 MM in cap room to sign a gooden or a mcdyess...something like that.

Yeah i guess the question just becomes is the best available pf attainable through a trade or through a signing?

Either way, I think that straight up cap space/instant savings would be of a greater value than blake, unless of course the team needs a PG.

I guess in retrospect Miller should have been dealt at the deadline last season...now we have to hope that Lou Williams is ready to be a full time player. With any luck Holiday will be ready to play sooner than expected.

At this point I'm more inclined to throw Holiday into the fire than take back Blake in a deal...

I would think that if Portland can agree to terms with Miller that they would definitely want to S&T Blake for him and possibly more (i.e. Webster, who Philly apparently doesn't want). Obviously, they would no longer have a need for Blake, but they would also still be players in FA, albeit at a lower level. Sure, you could always trade Blake to another team, but in that instance, you need a second team to agree. If you S&T Blake, you can still sign FA's, plus take back more salary in a trade.

Wow, my own 2.0 thread. Pretty cool.

Sounds like the Sixers are waiting to see what happens in Portland. If the Blazers sign somebody (Lee, Marion or whoever), perhaps a Miller sign-and-trade would be possible. If not, would they pursue Miller with some or all of their remaining cap space? Those are the questions.

Tom,
See what you can find out about Rodney Carney. I was told we have some interest again and plan on talking to his agent.

Agreed, Gsraider. I can't see Portland having a better chance of obtaining a PF with Blake than with $4-5M on the open market.

I'll ask, but I'm not a big fan. He plays too fast and takes too many quick jumpers. He couldn't beat out Willie Green, who everyone seems to blame for many of the Sixers' ills, for goodness sake!

i like carney....he has limitations..but for bench depth..i dont have an issue with him......

i am obviously more interested in the miller situation.....i think we all are just begging for news.

Are you down in orlando for summer league?

What about Detroit being interested in Sammy? With Sheed leaving they have Kwame freakin Brown as their ONLY center on the team.
