Would be comical if Manchester United fire Ten Hag now. Exact same thing happened to van Gaal.

Happy to see Southampton back up after their win against Leeds int he playoff final. The 3 clubs coming back up , were the clubs I was hoping to see come up, for selfish reasons. Have friends that are Ipswich and Southampton fans and Leicester have too good a team to be in the Championship.

Welp, Ten Hag has brought two pieces of silverware to the cabinet. That's awesome.

This is how you celebrate a league title win? No one is even bothered apart from the banana in the middle of it all.

So this is a rule put in place by the PL in 2021 after the Saudis bought Newcastle. City's owners allege that these ATP rules denied them of certain revenue opportunities.

This is not even tied to the 115 charges over FFP violations which date from 2009 to 2018.

In 2023, City was the second highest club in the world in revenues, just behind Real Madrid.

Madrid were last at the top of the index five years ago, and reported a record figure of €831 million for last season's period, €118m more than the year before.

City earned €5m fewer than Madrid in second, with the top five filled out by Paris Saint-Germain (€802m), Barcelona (€800m), and Manchester United (€746m).

PSG and Barça's ascension into the top five shows European clubs "regaining ground" on the Premier League, according to Deloitte, though Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all in the top 10.

Liverpool were the list's biggest fallers, going from third to seventh, owing to a downturn in results in domestic and European competitions.

Newcastle and West Ham United are 17th and 18th respectively, ahead of reigning Serie A champions Napoli.

Deloitte said the figures revealed that commercial revenue had replaced broadcast money as the largest income stream for clubs on the list for the first time since 2015-16, excluding the COVID-19-affected 2019-20 season.

"Another record-breaking year for Money League clubs represents the ongoing financial might of the football industry," Tim Bridge, lead partner in Deloitte's Sports Business Group, said.

"A high demand for live sport is pointing towards further growth for commercial and matchday revenues, in particular. As clubs appear to no longer be able to rely on exponential broadcast revenue growth, creating a more commercially focused business model will support them to achieve greater control over their financial stability."

So the top 10 are dominated by PL clubs, owing a lot to TV revenues. However, apparently for the first time in almost 10 years, "commercial revenues" or presumably match day and merchandising revenues drove these top revenue clubs.

It makes sense that as clubs advance further into competitions, they will earn more from fans buying tickets and merchandise. But Barca, Chelsea and Liverpool didn't have particularly strong seasons. Chelsea and Liverpool weren't even in the UCL in 2023 were they? Oh Liverpool got knocked out in mid February and Chelsea didn't play in the UCL, maybe Europa.

So unless they have a real meltdown, these top-brand clubs will always make money, always fill their home stadiums, always sell jerseys.

Chairman of Manchester City, which is suing the PL, says that some financial regulations introduced in the last year by the PL would make the league overall less competitive.

He also says it's "frustrating" whenever people bring up the FFP violations which are pending against the club.

Separately, City face 115 charges of alleged rule-breaking related to financial fair play, with the long‑awaited hearing taking place in November.

The club deny all wrongdoing and, in his review, Mubarak expressed frustration with the case being referenced whenever City enjoy success.

“I think the referencing is always frustrating,” he said. “Having it being talked about the way it’s being talked about, I can feel for our fanbase, and everyone associated with the club, to have these charges constantly referenced.

“We as a club have to respect that there is a process that we have to go through, and we’re going through it. It’s taking longer than what anyone hoped for, but it is what it is, and I’ve always repeated, let’s be judged by the facts and not by claims and counterclaims.”

Kind of like how the New England Patriots fans must be frustrated whenever people bring up Spygate or Deflategate.

Happy for Southampton. Didn't think they'd be able to beat Leeds. I do hope some of Leeds' players get some nice transfers (Gnonto, Summerville, Rutter, Ampadu, Firpo, Meslier, etc.).

Anyone following Leeds closer? Seems like Ilia Gruev established himself in the starting lineup after almost never playing in the first half of the season. Happy that it's working out for him apparantly.
