UNDERSTAND?

Well you have to understand, it's common sense the Confederation Cup is just useless. It's just the truth, it only has 8 national teams playing for the love of god.

The confed. cup is absolutely not "useless." It's a tournament where you can learn about your squad in preparation for next summer's. Spain, Italy, and Brazil all sent their top teams to the tournament in order to do that.

Who wins the cup is not so important, but to call the tournament "useless" is simply incorrect, as many of the teams are looking to use it as a springboard to build momentum for the rest of qualifying and the WC. Perhaps you are looking for a different word to describe the tournament? If the sides involved really didn't see any purpose for the confed. cup then they wouldn't send their top players!

Like I said before it can be a lot bigger, after all there's nothing like a Champions League for Nations, they just need more teams in there, but it's already improved since old times when we watched just young players or wannabe stars in there.

For the US, it was a real coming out party, if they keep this up for a couple more tourneys they'll get the respect they deserve everywhere in the world.

This tournament doesn't mean nothing though. There is ONLY 8 teams what don't you understand about that.

That's like saying the quarterfinals of the World Cup are meaningless because ONLY 4 teams play. The group stages of the Confederations Cup involves every team in the World. You do understand how those 8 teams get there, don't you?

quarter finals have 8 teams, semi finals have 4 teams.

Another amazing statement from our amazing poster...
"useless tournament?"
Well, the way the Brazilians celebrated after their win in the finals, it didn't look useless to me.
I know what's useless, hopeless and unneccessary: to argue with Smoove.

Congratulations to USA, even if they became runners up, they had a great run and certainly increased their reputation.

I don't like the idea of Boc at LB. I'd just prefer a wing that can send in a better cross and help us out.

I think it was Spector's cross that Dempsey converted his goal against. It was a beautiful cross... I'm still trying to figure out how much luck the actual goal involved with Demps hahaha

That said, I'd like to keep Spector out there because he preformed. Demerit earned his time as well. And we all know Boc wears the armband. It's a long ways to 2010 though, but our backline wasn't something to crow about [aside from Gooch's amazing and consistent play].

Castillo.. had a bad year as did everyone on that team, now he's back with his old coach at Tigres. That could bring him back into shape. At the very least if he does that he'll be a solid depth player in 2010, and with only being 22 he could very easily mature to a lock for the starting lineup come 2014.

Honsetly I just am hoping for some more technical ability. I'd like to see the day when against good teams if we get the lead, we can pass the ball around a little before we have to kick it back to them... give the team a chance to catch it's breath as well as help kill the clock.
