Castillo, Marquez, and Guardado are starters for Mexico, when healthy.

I think Borgetti retired from the national team as he hasn't played with them in over a year.

Thanks dude!

I haven't really gotten a chance to view Mexico for a while. I was sure I was pretty behind on updates on Mexico haha. I was like "That team didn't look the same, heck their coach is different!"

yeah, this weren't the "A" teams for neither Mexico or the US. i could even say that it was B/C team for Mexico and C the US.

for Aguirre and Mexico it was a tournament to see some "new" players and if they suited aguirre's style.

of this gold cup team ochoa, magallón, torrado, giovanni, vela and franco could be starters of part of the "A" team.

and about the players you asked:
- castillo: he's way too fragile and is most of the time injured. when healthy he's part of the A team, but not a starter.
- márquez: as you say he is the captain, so he will be part of the NT for many years to come.
- borguetti: yes, he retired from the NT although he still plays, but he's maybe a year away from retirement and has been pretty lousy in the last tournaments. right now he is injured and plays for Puebla.
guardado: he's a starter for the A team and to a point a cricual member of the team.

I wanted to steal the scoop from you. He might play in Barcelona's tour of the US. He says he's feeling good, his knee is healing well.

BTW Mamba, keep an eye on that Barca team. They could very well have Pardo's replacement, Jonathan Dos Santos. Pep Guardiola loves him and has coached him before; many scouts say he'll be better than Gio and Gio is already a top Mexican player. He's a very good passer and is playing in a CM role similar to Xavi.
I'm sorry I haven't been funny. I am not a comedian. I am Lenny Bruce.

Thanks BlackMamba!

I have another question though haha:

Why did both teams send their inferior teams on the field? I thought the Gold Cup level is regarded highly. Why both teams didn't send their best teams in the championship round?

Wait you are telling me the all mighty America (we beat Spain) lost to Mexico 5-0 AND Mexico only had 3 of their original starters? Is that what you are telling me? Because if you are, I'm going to laugh hahaha. *cough* Spain? haha.

like i said, US had their B/C team. there was no starter in that team.

and because this gold cup means nothing, that's why both mexico and the US sent their alternative teams.

and yes, i watched some of the highlights of barcelona's game where jonathan played and he looks pretty good. he's a different player than giovanni and i think could be very valuable in the future.

i remember back when giovanni was 16-17 and his brother was like 14 they were already saying that jonathan is better than him.

Lol dude, neither team had many of their starters and in fact exactly zero of the US starters played in the gold cup. It was basically the equivalent of a team USa tryout.
