IMO the player of the decade could easily be Thierry Henry. I wasn't following football (or any sports) closely in the early 2000's though. Whenever I'd watch Henry on the Gunners it was incredible. This is without mentioning how he was a one man wrecking crew for France for years.

Ronaldo. The original one. He's still at it, in Brazil, and he's still banging them in.

He wasn't, actually. He was constantly criticized throughout his career for underperforming when playing for France. He was good, but he didn't dominate like he did in Arsenal.

He's the GOAT for me, but unfortunately he was injured too often to be in this discussion.

Ronaldo was what made Inter my favorite team. Definitely my favorite of all time and I'd have to agree that he's probably the best of the decade.

Also, what's up with people saying Zidane? He only played for half the decade. We're voting on the 00's, not the 90's here.

He was a non-factor for most of the decade. :nonono:

If we were talking about player of the decade from 1995-2005 then Ronaldo and Zidane would be 1-2 no question.. It gets a little tricky with 2000-2010 as the criteria because they were in their primes in the late 90's.

And his impact up to that point was amazing. He was undoubtedly a top 3 player in the world in his time in the 2000s. You saw how he performed in the 2006 World Cup, IMO he could've gone a couple more years if he wanted to, but he didn't which was a shame.
