Your opinion on Sepp Blatter

What do you think of the most powerful man in soccer?

THINGS THAT HE STANDS FOR

Popularising soccer in "non classical" countries (USA, Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Arabia)
Using "small country" votes to win elections (esp. Africa)
Using soccer to impact politics
Selectively discriminating nations (Blind eye towards Nigeria but hardball vs France or Togo)
Golden Goal and Silver Goal
Resistance to instant replay or any technical means
Motto: "Money > all"

I personally think that he is a hypercapitalistic, charming and ruthless "realpolitiker". But then, is he worse than e.g. Bernie Ecclestone, David Stern, Hassan Mustafa or any random president?

Ecclestone is a strange bastard but he hasn't been obtuse when it comes to listening to teams in F1. He did well to add more grands prix and he did a whole lot of technological changes to reduce high impact collisions and help make the sport a more level playing field.

Blatter is a more darker person. The secretive voting tactics and lack of transparency is the most uncomfortable part of his tenure, along with alleged bribery complaints.

I despise Blatter, and can't wait to see him gone. The charges of corruption and bribery, his archaic views on video evidence, his random discriminatory comments, his hypocrisy and arrogance, hate him.

The whole World Cup selection process is bent, no doubt, and he's probably a significant part of that. He also has a disdain for the U.K. and the Premier League that I don't particularly understand.

Both are stubborn but I give it to Blatter. At least the NBA has video review.

Sepp Blatter and his crony sidekick Jack Warner are two of the most corrupt scumbags on this planet.

"GROUP L: "Cost-Effective Building Blocks"
50. DeJuan Blair
The league's best undersized power forward for the price: less than $3 million total through 2012-13, which seems insane for someone who routinely throws up double-doubles on a title contender. I couldn't leave him off even though his knees are apparently made of Sepp Blatter's backbone."

From Bill Simmons' trade value column :) and yeah I agree with him. Blatter is just a spineless worthless scumbag.

Let me put it this way.

It's astonishing that we actually have someone that makes Roger Goodell look good.

It is official, Mohd Bin Hammam from Qatar is officially going vs Blatter in the next FIFA presidential election on June 1, 2011.

Let's see what happens, b/c MBH is going to steal a majority of Blatter's previously unrivalled African and Asian/Arabian votes. He is immensely rich and a previous good friend of Blatter, but grew estranged of him lately. He could profit that the WC 2022 is in Qatar, and that Asia is now a powerful faction in the FIFA.

^^Bin Hammam has been president of the AFC (Asian version of the UEFA) since 2002, and was quite successful in establishing professional structures and making it financially independent. But then, he has a rep of being autocratic and ruthless, quote: "I will hack the hands off my enemies!"

Bin Hammam was the big guy behing the successful Qatar 2022 WC bid. He promises to battle "the overcentralisation of the FIFA, the rampant corruption and match fixing, and the lax stance on doping" - let's see how much is election talk and how much is really true.
