He was pretty good in Spain this past season. I wouldn't quite compare him to Podolski yet.

Very entertaining game! Im glad we were able to get the win! Being down 2-0 early was very disheartening. Ive always said and I still believe, Giovani Dos Santos is arguably Mexico's best player, at least play maker. He was tonight's MVP for sure and the goal he scored just proved so even more. It really bothers me how he can't a club team to call his home.

Also, the post game trophy presentation was bull. i know about 90% of the stadium was Mexican, but show a little more respect to the host nation. Fernando Fiore shouldnt have been the narrator or whatever.

The trophy presentation was done in bilingual so i see no problem with this. How were they being disrespectful?

Tim Howard calls ceremony a 'disgrace'

http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/soccer/news/story?id=6705473

CONCACAF should be ashamed of themselves," Howard said. "I think it was a [expletive] disgrace that the entire postmatch ceremony was in Spanish. You can bet your ass that if we were in Mexico City, it wouldn't be all in English.

1) The postmatch ceremony was bilingual. So chill...
2) If this was in Mexico City it would be bilingual as well.

The postmatch ceremony should be the last thing he should be mad at.

Some of it was Bilingual

Ok maybe disrespect wasnt the right word but they could have shown less enthusiasm towards Mexico winning? All i know is that it would not have been done the same way if the United States would have won.

Imagine David Stern, excited as Fernando Fiore was tonight, handing the NBA trophy the Miami Heat, that wouldn't sit to well with the rest of the league

I dont know, i like small, simple presentations, this one was too drawn out

Ahh i see what you're saying. They should of put some one from CONCACAF to do the ceremony in bilingual. Fernando Fiore is an Argentinian getting paid millions by Univision, so i doubt he cares who wins. He is always excited

Lol at fiore could care less who won......Univision is a disgrace when it comes to being neutral. The are the most bias network I have ever seen. They are always overratting Mexico and their players as well as blatantly rooting for Mexico.

Example of this was when Man U was playing Barca in the final. They kept talking about who is the better player, chicharito or Messi. LAWL. Mexico is such a solid team with great players who are also likable, but Univision always makes me wanna root against them because I know the ridiculous coverage and homerism they display when Mexico does well.

As far as the game goes, great showing by Mexico. This is the best Mexican team I've seen in a long time. U.S defense has been astonishingly bad in the past few years. I mean horrendous. It's surprising the team has been able to perform at a respectable level despite its atrocious defense.

US players were visibly upset by the ceremony. You could tell Dempsey was pissed when Fiore kept emphasizing SECOND PLACE!, but it wasn't that big a deal. It's not a US tournament, it's a CONCACAF tournament. Just frustration after losing

he overdid it. i understand having bilingual postmatch but calling Bocanegra "el capitan" while giving the runners up trophy is pretty ridiculous.

It's always interesting to me where my Mexican-American friends stand when the teams play.

To be fair, the crowd was at least 85% Hispanic, and how many countries that participated are English-Speaking countries?

Yeah, I've got several friends that were at the game, and by all accounts, the crowd was overwhelmingly Mexican, they were catering to the audience.

Think about this: if there was some kind of stadium emergency where an announcement would be necessary, what would have been more effective, English or Spanish?

Howard and Dempsey are frustrated that there are basically no home games for the US, at best we get a neutral game. It kinda sucks yo

be as it may, it's an international game played in soil of an English speaking country and involving English speaking country. even if the 1% of the stadium was American, referring to their team in Spanish is bit disrespectful imo. similarly, Turkey plays lot of games in central Europe where the crowd is overwhelmingly Turkish, but language used in stadia is the language of the home team and/or English before Turkish is used. heck, even the game played between Turkey and Azerbaijan in Istanbul had English announcements since it was an UEFA sanctioned game.
