Under the radar players you like watching

Post#1 » by Slava » Mon Jan 16, 2012 6:30 pm

Any under-appreciated, seldom in the limelight players that you absolutely love watching perform?

I always liked Morten Gamst Pedersen and thought he might make the move to a bigger club in mid 00s but sadly he never did. In his prime he had a vicious cross, great left foot and used to be a threat on set pieces. Mourinho once said he never understood what he was doing at Blackburn.

Similar guys I like watching are Seb Larsson and Martin Petrov.

Hugo Rodallega is a player I like as well. Big, strong and can dribble the ball pretty well for his size and always seemed a handful for most premier league center backs.

Steven Fletcher, Coloccini and Gutierrez are getting some attention now a days but greatly underrated players who always do a proper job and I think Gutierrez especially is one of the best left backs in the league.

Chung Yong Lee is another solid player who will likely develop into something better in Bolton.

On the continental side I always admired Mirko Vucinic and he might be a little popular now but during his Roma days he'd always pop up for a crucial goal as a sub.

Soldado is a striker I always admired for his finishing ability and he's getting more exposure now with Valencia.

Wow, I am surprised to see Hugo Rodallega in anyone's list. He is a tough player, but can be a little clumsy.

I like James Rodriguez. He is a stud and is only 20 years old. He is arguably the 2nd best player in Oporto.

I like Falcao although he has been misused in A Madrid because he is better receiving crosses and scoring off headers. He still has 11 goals in 15 games in la liga and will finish among the top 5 scorers.

Carlos Sanchez did a fine job containing Messi back in July during Copa America. I like Rossi from Villareal a lot as well.

This should be my answer.

Joe Allen from Swansea, fantastic midfielder. Excellent vision, good technique.
Matt Jarvis (Wolves), one of the best wingers in the EPL. Direct, good with the ball, excellent crosses.
Victor Moses from Wigan, Leighton Baines from Everton, also Seamus Coleman.
Junior Hoilett and Steve N'Zonzi from Blackburn, I like Olsson too.
Richard Dunne (especially when Henry used to rip him to shreds)

Continental side:

Really like Olivier Giroud from Montpellier, fun to watch, will be on a bigger side soon. Juan Vargas at Fiorentina, too.

Another player I like: Adam Johnson. Seems to be capable of doing everything asked from a winger, but is on the wrong team to showcase his talents.

Matt Jarvis is definitely one player under the radar that's great to watch. And Adam Johnson is probably the prime example of a guy at a higher level that doesn't deserve to be sitting on the bench.

I love Johnson too, real shame he'll spend his career on City's bench.

I didn't love watching him dive for a pen on the weekend. :x

It was pretty funny to hear "You're just a sh*t Nathan Dyer" sang at Theo Walcott during the game, though.

I think we had same preferences @ OP. I like Mirko Vucinic & Roberto Soldado a lot.

Alan Smith. I like his energy.
Valeri Bojinov. His natural talent is amazing
Stefano Sorrentino. Underrated goalkeeper
Roberto Baronio. People say he was a bust but i like his passion, passing ability & vision.
Christopher Samba. Very strong CB
Brad Friedel before his Spurs & Aston Villa days.
Claudio Bravo, solid GK
Kevin Prince Boateng, i like Kevin's playstyle
Stefan Mauri. Have one of the best off the ball movement in Italy
Guglielmo Stendardo. I dont know why people so low on him.
Christian Del Grosso. Solid fullback
Balzaretti, same as above
Christopher Maggio, same as above
Bovo
i will add more later

this is why i love this game, so many good player to watch.

It baffles me that Bent is talked so little. 4 clubs paid 55 M Pounds in total for him.

i like him but i would pick the prime Jermaine Defoe.

I also liking Luka Modric, he is well known but very few people know his real abilities
